They've absolutely sucked as of late and have dropped 4 in a row..5-5 in the ACC and losing right now by 12 to Maryland...what's up with them? Is it the lack of experience?I think they could miss out on the big dance (that would be a HUGE shocker) if they don't step it up and keep losing to ACC teams and losing games they shouldn't be..I think they'll be in danger if they lose to Maryland and then to Boston College wednesday
I really don't like the makeup of their team this year. Not enough brothers. Too many unathletic white guys that can do little more than shoot. McRoberts is overrated and I hate how Paulus plays. Boston College needs a big win vs. them on Wed.
Yeah, I think they will make the tourney, but will be a low seed and will probably be eliminated quickly.
Duke is EPSN's illegitimate love child, there is no way they do not make the tournament. Even with their pathetic OOC and fauly top 5 SOS. A look at their OOC (RPI rank)Columbia (208)Georgia Southern (256)NC Greensboro (215)Air Force (16)Marquette (22)Davidson (70)Indiana (17)Georgetown (26)Holy Cross (67)George Mason (126)Kent St (103)Gonzaga (54)San Jose St (233)Temple (164)If it wasn't for schools like Washington, Uconn and Syracuse I would argue that Coach K puts together the softest schedule in the nation for tournament caliber teams (on an annual basis). He really needs to grow a set and actually start playing decent non conference games.
They just don't have the players. McRoberts only shows up half the time, he's not a leader. Paulus has flaws in his game and gets plenty of minutes, Jon Scheyer gets major minutes and can't shoot, Gerald Henderson has had a very dissapointing freshman season, Nelson is their best player but he isn't good enough to put a team on his shoulders...the rest of their bench is pretty young and lackluster...this is easily Coach K's worst team that I can think of. Soft schedule? The Devils have one of the tougher schedules in college basketball. They have played Marquette, Georgetown, Indiana, Gonzaga, Virginia Tech, Clemson, George Tech, Boston College, UNC...I wouldn't call it that soft, every team has 6 or so gimmies on their schedule. And with the ACC being as beastly as it is, I don't blame Coach K for having a softer out of conference schedule.
Duke is out of the top 25 for the first time this year..1. Florida (72) 23-2 1,800 2. Ohio State 22-3 1,668 3. Wisconsin 24-2 1,637 4. North Carolina 22-3 1,604 5. UCLA 21-3 1,465 6. Texas A&M 21-3 1,462 7. Pittsburgh 22-3 1,415 8. Memphis 21-3 1,272 9. Kansas 21-4 1,268 10. Washington State 21-4 1,090 11. Nevada 22-2 1,084 12. Marquette 21-5 916 13. Butler 23-3 831 14. Georgetown 18-5 782 15. Oregon 20-5 689 16. Southern Illinois 21-5 660 17. Air Force 21-4 538 18. Oklahoma State 19-5 503 19. Arizona 17-7 438 20. Kentucky 18-6 387 21. Boston College 18-6 325 22. USC 18-7 290 23. West Virginia 19-5 272 24. Indiana 17-6 223 25. Alabama 18-6 158 Is this a sign of things to come?Will a loss to Boston College put them out of reach of a spot back into the top 25?considering after that there's only 4 games left on their schedulethey need to play North Carolina again and Maryland again..both who they lost to...ouch
