Interesting topic, he's already edging his way into the top 10 of pretty much all of the offensive Celtics records. His career stats are pretty nasty, like 23.5 points and 7 rebounds. He's a consistent player who is never injured and I'd say if he puts up two or three more seasons of this kind of basketball he's a lock.
Well, I really don't think he will be a lock. I think that if he puts up a few more seasons like this, he will definitely be worthy of being in the HOF. However, I just think he'll end up being overlooked by the voters when he is first eligible, which will be unfortunate.
what is the voting system for HOF? Is it sports writers and hall of famers, do players have any say? If it's already HOF'ers and players I think he'll definately get in because those are the people who know how good Pierce is.
There is a panel that votes for who will be inducted, but I'm not quite sure who is on that panel. I'm guessing there are some writers and "experts/analysts" on the panel, as well as some of the officials of the HOF, but I'm not 100% sure.Plus, it really depends on who else will be eligible at the same time he will. Remember, it's the basketball hall of fame, not the NBA hall of fame.
I think he will be a lock if he keeps his game at this level for a couple more seasons. Wilkens made it proving you didn't have to do much winning to be a HOFer.
If he keeps up his play for 2-3 more years it's very possible. He has been in the last 5 All-Star games and has been to the Eastern Conference Finals. But he will only be a lock if he wins a championship or condends for a couple straight years.

I think it's possible. I hope he will. He will certainly have his number retired, but HOF just seems like a bit of a stretch. Very rarely to players that haven't won anything get inducted.
I think it all comes down to the ring, the numbers are there but alot of times success is measured by how many championships.I'm sure if he can win 1 ring and keep the consistent seasons he will be in the HOF.

I think it would greatly increase hos chances of acceptance if he led the Celtics to a championship.
It will be close. Paul has had a pretty good career. If he continues what he has been doing and maybe even go beyond that, he might be able to get in but a ring would realy help him. As of right now I would say no, he is barely in the top 20 active players.

You take one piece out of the Pistons puzzle and this team isn't nearly as good as they are right now. There are few players in this league that are consistent as Paul Pierce or driven. This guy plays a full season every season and plays his ass off every night. The seasons where he's only played 79 games are because he sat out the last three meaningless games to not get some stupid injury. I agree with the fact that a ring would help his chances getting in the HOF but c'mon to say he's barely a top 20 player is ridiculous. He's not flashy, not a loudmouth, he just plays the game.

He's a top 5 scorer, the best rebounding guard in the league, he shoots over 45% from the field (48% this year) he gets 5 assists a night, he's top 10-20 in steals most seasons, he's top 3 in the league in getting to the free throw line, he rarely misses a game, injuuries have a never been an issue for him, why don't people give this guy the credit he deserves?
