Then, as if the endless possibilities rushed through his head at the moment, Riley began to consider the idea of playing Alonzo Mourning and Shaquille O'Neal at the same time.
It's an experiment Stan Van Gundy used briefly last season and never got a chance to this season because of O'Neal's ankle injury that kept him out 18 games.
Riley already has a nickname for the dominant centers, whether they're playing together or not.
    ''I'm calling them So-Zo,'' Riley said. ``S.O., Z-O. It's a double-headed center.''
Riley said he has thought about playing the two together, with the deciding factor being the defensive matchup for Mourning.
''If it's a three-point shooter [Mourning would defend] or something, then we probably won't,'' Riley said. ``Zo and Shaquille at times, in the right situations, will work.''
O'Neal has greater thoughts when it comes to he and Mourning playing side-by-side.
''If we do that, I'm looking at four more rings,'' O'Neal said. ``Me and Zo, that's nice. Me and Zo always joke about it because when he's in the game I like to play the [power forward]. I told him, if he's in the game, I'm not even going to look for the rebound. I'm going to the outside and get a couple of easy buckets.''</div>
