<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> In the wake of the revelation that NBA referee Tim Donaghy is under investigation for possibly manipulating the scores of games, numerous media outlets have compiled lists of potential losers in the scandal.

Don't be surprised if Heat guard Dwyane Wade comes out as one of those who winds up paying a price.

Why? Because few players make as much of a living getting to the foul line as Wade, and few have drawn as much high-profile scrutiny as when Wade attempted 97 free throws in leading the Heat over the Mavericks in the six-game 2006 NBA Finals.

By now, it is clear that every whistle from this point forward will drew far greater scrutiny. But when there is no whistle, the debate over a non-call is difficult to pin individually on any one of the three referees working a game.

So when it doubt, don?t tweet it out.

Think about it: A referee who wants to impact the over-under betting line merely has to get a team in foul trouble, begin a procession to the foul line, set in motion a movement toward the "over" total. By contrast, it would be practically impossible to single-handedly rig the "under" line, since the other two officials working the game still could make enough calls to put a team in the free-throw bonus.</div>

Wade will be okay, people act as if all the man can do is shoot FTs...and when looking at his actual attempts there not different then any other superstar player who has attacked the rim in the past.

By doomed they mean he won't get his 100 foul attempt per game. I think it just was in the finals because of the betting., but I notice he gots a lot of calls.[IMG]

I think he should be fine, Wade was also a very good player at drawing fouls and finishing, and if the refs are going to hold their whistles, it won't just be for him. I will be interesting to see if that happens, there will be a lot of complaining fans next season.

It will be fine. He is strong enough to get shots off even while being fouled, but there is also a lot more to his game. Same for Iverson and anyone else that gets to the line a lot. No drama!!!
