I will miss this guy. He was not pnly a force at guard for more than a decade, but a great human being as well. Shields was drafted in '93 to protect Montana in his geriatric years. Our O-line just gets weaker and weaker. Here's the story... http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=2&c=635859 Here's a link to his "Will to Succeed" fondation where he posted the official retirement memo. http://www.willtosucceed.org/
Let's hope he uses his money after retirement wisely. Do the Chiefs have any depth at OG position? Because I'd hate for them to target a guard during the draft...
There is some rumbling that Shields wanted to continue to play but the chiefs wanted him to take a pay cut or something along those lines. Regardless, i take my hat off to one of NFL's TRUE IRON MEN, best of luck to him in the future.
dats a big loss for the chiefs, first roaf now shields. one of the best OL in the league. he has had a great carrer tho but the chiefs are in big trouble on that OL
That offensive line is falling apart. It use to be the best in the NFL, but they lost Roaf, Black and now Shields. I wonder if this will affect the 1st round selection?
They are saying Jon Welbourn will probably man Shields' old spot. DM is still a tackle on the KC roster from what I have heard. Jordan Black was not much of a loss imo.
