Eric Snow made an interesting comment after the Nuggets played Cleveland a few days ago... Iverson and Anthony won't have a problem playing with each other, but will the role players start to get annoyed/angry if both those guys get the majority of the shots and the Nuggets are losing? Just like the 2001 Sixers, Iverson and Carmelo will take care of the offense for the most part, but what will ultimately determine how successful this team will be is how willing the role players are to do the dirty work.Obviously I haven't really followed the Nuggets all year, so I'm looking to hear some of your opinions on the matter. I personally don't think shots will be a problem for guys like Camby and Nene (I think Camby will get his off those trailing jumpers and boards), and definitely not for hustle guys like Evans and Najera, but two guys worry me: JR Smith and Diawara.Smith just seems like he is a little too immature at this point in his career, and he just looks like he's trying way to hard out there to try and impress Iverson and show him what he can do. The first two games or so he came back, it just seemed like he was a little jealous of the attention Iverson was getting, and rarely ever passed the ball to AI. Sure, his shot selection has been questionable all year, but I don't know if the lack of shots and/or points will be a problem for him. He will surely get open looks off of the attention opponents will give to AI and Carmelo, but will he take advantage of them?Diawara is a gunner... I don't know if he can suddenly change that when Carmelo comes back, assuming he'll get a decent amount of playing time.Thoughts on the matter?
Diawara might be a problem, but I think eventually he will realize his role is defense. JR Smith I think has matured and will still average 15ish. I hope it isn't a problem, but if it is I am not sure what we will do.
The Nuggets role players will be fine, yes Carmelo and Anthony will take a lot of shots but they are also both very good passers. They are often going to draw double teams and this will allow the role players to get the ball kicked out to them and get their shots.
They shouldnt care. Most of the players on this team is just glad that they are winning and thats why their chemistry is so high.
So far everything looks good. Everyone is averaging around their own points and lots of shots are being jacked up than before. So that means more rebounds for Camby and Nene and also more chances to score. So they definitely don't have any problems with sharing the ball and the role players will continue to do what they are doing and stay happy without any complaints that they aren't getting enough touches.
