Orlando Sentinel: "Asked if he would consider opting out after the 2004-2005 season, McGrady told the Orlando Sentinel, 'I don't know. I can't say yet.' Notice he didn't proclaim his undying love for Orlando, either."

Full Article: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...ports-headlines</div> Actually, they wont be able to make a run at him. They are clearing room to resign Ginobili however. Take a look at this: Duncan will make around $16 million at the time. Rose will be slated at around $6 million Rasho at $6.7 million Ginobili will get somewhere around $5-$6 million next year(Teams will offer their full MLE for him, so the Spurs will have to beat it). Plus, Tony Parker will be a FA. Teams will want him as well. My guess is Parker gets a similar contract as Jason Williams of Memphis. His first year of his extension will be around $6.5 million. These 5 players will take up $40 million in cap space. The salary cap will be set at around $50 million. $10 million wont bring in McGrady. He could re-up with Orlando for a much larger contract, or go to a team that can offer him a few million more(He will be able to get a contract starting in the Tim Duncan range due to the amount of years he has been in the league). Simply put, San Antonio wont have the cap room. And thats not accounting for rookies that they will sign between now and 2005, as well as role players they will need to sign.
TMAC might consider testing the free agent waters like Duncan and Kidd recently did however, I expect him to remain a Magic. That is his team and hopefully he can turn it in to a contender eventually. Once the Magic get rid of Grant Hill's contract they should have more room to maneuver around for free agents to help TMAC out. If I were him I would stay in Orlando where he could get paid an outragous sum of money and help build histeam as KG is doing in Minnesota currently. The Magic can offer him as much money or more money that any other NBA franchise.
Spurs will make a run for him..thats a fact....if mcgrady was smart he would opt out and test the market
I doubt hes going to leave the magic. they can offer him the most money and like vintage said its just not possible for the spurs. allnet your just saying the spurs are going to make a run at him because you hate the magic for some reason
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">allnet your just saying the spurs are going to make a run at him because you hate the magic for some reason</div> What the hell you on about? i don't hate magic...i say spurs are going to make a run at him..Because they will!! check the article don't take a fans view on spurs not going after him..as they will...and i want him in San Antonio and win a title here
well anytime a magic issue comes up its always an insult. the spurs wont have enough cap space to sign mcgrady. simple as that. you can say they can but just look what vintage said. NOT possible
How was it an insult? saying spurs will go after him is an insult? spurs will be able to offer a decent amount...both mercer and hedo contracts are up after this year...which gives more money..spurs won't be over the cap by the time mcgrady is a FA so spurs will be in the hunt...i'm sure T-mac wants a title...so come to San Antonio...
he's gonna stay in orlando, near his home, again grant hill will opt out of his contract and we will be able to max out someone else, prob of tmac's choice, a good center. san antonio would be a smart place for tmac if he wants the title and to get away from his family, but he doesn't want to get away from his home, that's the reason he came to orlando in the 1st place.
even if grant hill plays a little and doesn't get injuries, i think he would opt out for the magic and then we will sign him to a smaller deal. since after the 2nd year he offered the magic to restructure his contract, but we declined for some reason. (i think)
i meant resign him to like a 2 year 4 million deal or something small like that. if he is healthy this year and/or next year, then we should resign him, but if he isn't then just let him opt out.
how did he screw you guys over? it's not like he chose to have these ankle problems. meh. it's kinda soon to ask Tmac whether he wants to opt out of his contract in two years. lots of stuff can happen between then and now. i think if he still doesn't make it out of the first round, he'll leave.
but he had like 4 surgerys and he keeps thinking he can make a comeback when he cant! I guess it was hills dad that screwed us b/c he kept saying his son would play next season. (when its clear hes not)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting airforce1s:</div><div class="quote_post">true..but i dont like him. he screwed us over</div> Why would you have disrespect for someone who's injured? He tries to come back to help your team and to play. If anyone screwed someone over it was getting Grant Hill in the first place, it's not Grant Hill's fault. I think that would be amazing if TMac could eventually go to the Spurs, but I doubt it.
