There was some dynasty thing going on in the NBA forums thingy and jus felt like puttin this thread here to see what u guys have to say. Rockets own!
yes they will. T-Mac is finally going to be able to play all out , and Yao Ming will slowly become the 2nd best big man in the league after Tim Duncan (I dont think of KG as a big man) They just need to draft well, and get a good point guard. A lot of this hinges on Yao's conditioning. He keeps on playing for the Chinese national team. If he ever stops and rests during the summer he will be able to play more min. during the season and be more active
yeah they will be the next NBA dynasty... IF... 1) TMac sacrifices his shots/points to give Yao more touches...he could easily sacrfice his points and still average 22-25 ppg opposed to the 30-32 he's averaged the past few seasons 2) Yao becomes more aggressive, which he showed flashes of last year...Yao needs to be shooting around 20-22 shots a game, and averaging around 20-25 ppg... 3) The team realizes that this IS Yao's and Tracy's team and does everything to get them the ball and sacrifice their personal accomplishments for the good of the team...
houston is not the next dynasty they dont have what it takes to get there they dont have the players. and also this t-mac yao duo isnt going to last more than 3 years youll see how fast theyre going to fall apart. you saw what happened in orlando when t-mac stayed there too long they went from a playoff team to a lottery team they better get rid of him quick before the rockets become the next magic.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Oneinpower:</div><div class="quote_post">you have to go alittle west on IH10 to see a dynasty Spurs</div> no the Spurs are NOT a dynasty...they're good and will be a top team in the West for years but they have enough weaknesses to be a dynasty...for one, they cant shoot free throws at all...if Duncan gets injured, its over...Ginobili is a nice player, but too inconsistent for my liking...Parker has to be more consistemt against the better PGs of the West...their hopes and dreams all rely on Duncan, if he gets injured or is out for a lengthy stretch, then they become an average team and struggle to get wins...atleast now if TMac gets hurt, Yao steps up, and vice versa, plus we have other offensive threats such as JJ and Mo Taylor and J-Howard, all capable of scoring 18+ on any given night...

i never even gave my opinion, but i just wonna know why, because ive heard alot of reasons why it WILL work, but not enough of why it WONT work.
They wont be a dynasty for anothere 3 years. Nothing wrong with T-Mac but Yao he has a long time to go.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nothing wrong with T-Mac but Yao he has a long time to go.</div> I think its the other way around. Yao has, already learned his role on the team, what he needs to produce, and JVGs style of play. T-mac has never played for Van Gundy, or with a legit big man (Ewing...eh.). He was never interested in defense, never liked practice, and always liked being the first option. He's gonna have to re-learn a lot of things. Thank God he's only 25. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">houston is not the next dynasty they dont have what it takes to get there they dont have the players. and also this t-mac yao duo isnt going to last more than 3 years youll see how fast theyre going to fall apart. you saw what happened in orlando when t-mac stayed there too long they went from a playoff team to a lottery team they better get rid of him quick before the rockets become the next magic.</div> Though i support your opinion about the Rockets not becoming a Dynasty, I have to ask, If you think the Rockets are gonna be the next Magic (Bonafide superstar, loves his team mates at first, grows to hate them), what do you think about Kobe, and your LA Lakers? Not here to criticize, but I already stated my opinion, and backed it up nicely. I think we wont be playoff contenders if we dont get a legit PG. We dont need one that plays stellar defense, bcus Lue is a very under-rated defender, who can easily shut down fast PGs. Remember what happened to the Astros, they started off well, but then slipped up bad. Got their Manager (in our case, Coach) fired, and have to dig themselves out of a hole. I think this "Tmac and Yao duo" will work, bcus Yao doesnt have an ego. Let's hope he doesnt develop one.
I think T-Mac is finally in a situation where he doesn't have to be the main guy every time down the court, and that is what will turn the Rockets into a dynasty. Just get a couple of guys that can handle the rock and play some D around T-Mac, and you have yourself a dynasty!
No....the Rockets won't be a dynasty until maybe the 2005-2006 season. Right now, the Rockets don't have a good enough team. Having only T-mac and Yao won't win a championship. Even the Lakers had different players stepping up to help them win.
Look up the meaning of a dynasty before you say the rockets are going to be a dynasty. And second of al lthe first step to being called a dynasty is by winning chapionships how competitive the west is right now with the wolves spurs nugetts lakers dallas and the kings i think the rockets wont be able to win a championshp against theese kind of teams.if you look at the lakers situation they had shaq and kobe shaq is better than yao and kobe is better than tracy did they win no.im just sayin theres a very slim chance the rockets will win a champioship in the next 5 years because of the dominance of san antonio and the wolves. PS. I forgot Karl and Gary
JJ and Mo Taylor/J Howard will easily help the Rockets more than Payton and Malone in 03-04, and theres no conflict between anybody because of anybody's ego.. the only thing that comes close to that is the worry that Tmac wont share the ball with Yao, but thats a whole different situation compared to whats between shaq and kobe. Yao and Tmac are still young and they can only get better. a championship next year?? probably not. in the near future?? definately.
They have a chance to be something big, maybe the nect Kobe and Shaq. For this to happen this must happen. Tracy Mcgrady has to realize that the offense is going to run through Yao and he has to accept that he will probally not get as many shots,we will see if Tracy is willing to be the second option. Yao has to develop quicker and be more agressive he should be taking the shots and he should demand for the ball more often. This team will rely on the chemistry that Yao and T_Mac will have,if its bad then the whole team is going to suffer if the chemistry is good then they have a chance to be a contender in the West.

The Lakers got to the finals this season on talent alone.. You could hardly call them a "team" when they're fighting amongst themselves all the time. Did you see in the first round against the Rockets, Kobe got fouled and made an incredible shot while falling to the ground. Gary Payton stood at the 3 point line, didn't help him up or cheer on his teammate. Karl Malone, same thing. Shaq was probably wondering why he didn't get the ball. It doesn't matter if Shaq and Kobe are individually, better players. If Yao and T-Mac and the rest of the Rockets can play as a team, they have enough talent there to compete for a championship. Just look at the Pistons - no egos, no one demanding shots, they just play as a team.
