I think this all depends on how the Kings do these next few seasons. If the Kings are champs this season or the next couple of seasons, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll retire. If he chooses not to retire, I don't see him ballin with another team....he's one of those players who just don't look right wearing a different jersey. If he does retire, he will leave a big void that will be hard to be filled, and that's fact. But he's getting old and I don't think he'll want to risk getting an injury that'll force him to retire, ready or not. What do yall think?
I don't think Vlade is going anywhere quite yet, he's slow and there's no denying that, however he's still only 35. Yeah his contract is running out but I think you could "squeeze" Vlade for a new deal, perhaps a season with a player option for a second year. Vlade, slower or not, is still the best passing big man in the game today. He STILL contributes just as much, if not more, than any player on Sacramento's roster. The guy defintely is capable of sticking around a being a huge part of this team, age is just as number because he's talent and ability is still there. Besides, if fatigue and risking possible injury becomes an issue, there's a simple solution. Sacramento could simply move Brad Miller into the starting center postion, than limit Vlade's minutes to perhaps 20 a game. That way they could easily get another season out of Vlade, perhaps a second. Honestly, I don't believe he's going anywhere quite yet!
Vlade Divac is awesome, he's one of the reasons i'm a kings fan, he looks cool (sounds weird), he makes passes that are pretty unbelievable for a center, very unselfish player. If Divac was to retire, the kings have miller, but they lose another part of why the kings should have two championships so far.
I don't think vlade will nor should retire. he is a vital member of the team. Hopefully the Kings win a championship before he does go. He deserves one for how much he put forth for this team. BTW, how's his restaurant coming along?
I think it depends a lot on the Kings winning a championship this year or not. If they win, I think Divac will say good-bye to the game. If not, I see him sticking around for at least a year.
If you're hoping to challenge the Lakers for a few more years, you would want to have him for a few more years as well. Sure he's slow now but he can still flop as if he's in his prime. Besides, you'll need his "pure center instincts".
Laugh it up but Vlade is way underrated. People that don't watch the Kings don't realize that he is an offensive leader on the team. I don't see him leaving yet. He's been slow for years but can still put up triple doubles. Seriously, make a list of the best centers in the game. Now cross off all those players who really play forward Vlade is on the short list of good true centers in the game.
