<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The ball slipped out of Williams? hands a few times, making him look like a decent player whose NBA dreams are far-fetched. But late in the session, the 6-foot-1 guard knocked down an impressive 10 of 11 attempts from beyond the 3-point line, then buried 5 in a row from long range while pulling up from the top of the key. ?I feel like my body is getting really, really close to where it was when I last played,? Williams said. ?I don?t know if I?ll ever be the same, fast explosive player I was before, trying to dunk on Yao Ming and things like that. Just shooting a lot more layups and a lot more floaters, but 2 points are 2 points.? If Williams is ready to go when NBA training camps begin in October ? and he swears he will be ready ? the next question is whether he will return to the Bulls, the team that made him the No. 2 pick of the 2002 NBA draft. When the Bulls negotiated a $3 million contract buyout a few months following the accident, Williams vowed to give the Bulls right of first refusal if and when he ever attempted a comeback. His agent, Kevin Bradbury, insisted that promise still stands. Asked if he sees himself going to camp with the Bulls, Williams prefaced his answer with a sigh, knowing the Bulls have a backcourt crowded with small guards. ?I don?t know,? he said. ?Honestly, guys, I would love to play here. Since I?ve been 11 years old, it?s been my dream to be in this city. But their situation right now with Ben Gordon, Kirk (Hinrich), Chris (Duhon) and (Jannero) Pargo, I just don?t know if it?s going to work out.</div> <div align="center">Source</div> I do not know you take on this, but I would not hesitate even once to let Pargo go as a free agent, and resign Jay Williams. I know a lot of us liked what Pargo did in the playoffs last season for us, but be realistic that is all you are ever going to get from him he is a scorer, but not a great floor general or at least not as Jay Williams is. He is a former number two overall pick that alone should say something about the type of talent and potential he has to bring to the table. He is also a guy who could bring us what Duhon did last season with a little more excitement, energy, and points. I think that if he does believe he is ready for the NBA we should be biting at the chance of getting him back. I believe at the end of next season our starting back court will be Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon with the second until of Jay Williams and Chris Duhon backing them up with Basden getting into the rotation as a swingman at times. A lineup like this would be pretty decent. Kirk Hinrich/ Jay Williams/ Chris Duhon Ben Gordon / Chris Duhon/ Eddie Basden Loul Deng/ Andres Nocioni/ Eddie Basden Tyson Chandler/ Antonio Davis/ Othella Harrington or Mario Austin Eddy Curry/ Tyson Chandler
Hmm, I was never a fan of Jay, maybe because of my gross hatred for Duke, but I'd love to see him come back. I think he still has some talent in him, and could turn out to be a solid player. This is if he can prove the Bulls that he is infact healthy and can play.
I remember the best game of jays career. It was against the NJ nets 26 points, 13 assists, and 14 rebounds. the guy had potential. I think odds are he will never play in the nba again. damn we lost him all because he saw the movie biker boys. AAAH WELL, I got over it about 1/2 way through last season wen we began rolling over Teams. GL jay.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting michiganave17:</div><div class="quote_post"> I think odds are he will never play in the nba again. </div> He has actually stayed very much involved in the NBA doing a lot of broadcasts, and interviews sometimes, traveling to promote the NBA, and doing camps for kids. He has generated a lot of interest lately from a lot of teams, because right now odds are he will make his long awaited return to the NBA this season the Nets and Rockets are both interested. John Paxson has not shut out the idea of resigning him either he actually asked Williams to give the Bulls the first shot at him when he is ready to play again in an article a while back. So he will play in the NBA again question is only when and for what team.
He's a medium level risk if we get him, because that means proven players like Pargo or Duhon may not resign. He has a very high reward though if he can get back to the form he once was. I'd love to see him play for Chicago again.
