Wimbledon Champ Clued Up On Ronaldo Saga

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Sun claims that Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal has been given the inside scoop on the Cristiano Ronaldo saga, and that Real Madrid have the deal ‘done and dusted’…

Nadal defeated Roger Federer in five sets on Sunday to claim his first Wimbledon title – adding to his four consecutive French Open wins – but, amazingly, that may not have even been the best part of the Spaniard’s day.

The 22-year-old is a devout Madridista, even though his uncle – former Spain defender Miguel Angel Nadal – spent seven seasons at Barcelona between spells at RCD Mallorca.

Los Merengues president Ramon Calderon was at the All England Club to watch Nadal break his country’s second four-decade trophy drought in as many weeks, La Seleccion having taken out the EURO 2008 crown the weekend before.

And according to The Sun, Calderon assured the Mallorca-born racquet-slinger that the protracted chase of Manchester United winger Ronaldo is nearing a close.

Nadal is reported to have asked: “OK, President, where’s this Cristiano Ronaldo we’re supposed to be signing?”

While Calderon supposedly replied: “Relax, Rafa, everything’s under control and we’ve got him done and dusted.”

This comes despite recent claims from Old Trafford that the Portuguese superstar will not be sold at any cost – not even for what would be a world-record fee of ₤70million.</div>
