"Johan Franzen will miss tonight's exhibition game against Chicago. Maybe another after that.

But Franzen will return quickly. And for that, Franzen and the Red Wings are lucky.

Franzen took the brunt end of a knee-on-thigh collision with Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.

Franzen, who sustained a charley horse, pulled no punches about the hit.

"It was terrible," said Franzen, who feels Orpik should be suspended for the play. "Stupidest play I have ever seen."

From Franzen's vantage point, Orpik lifted his foot and got his knee inside of Franzen's leg. Franzen said he feared he'd sustained another knee injury -- he had surgery on the left one last year -- while airborne after the collision."
