<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This time last week, Kennedy Winston's journey to the NBA didn't look so bumpy and filled with potholes. "I want to get my mom out of Prichard and get her a nice house," said the two-time leading scorer on the University of Alabama basketball team, who left school in the spring after his junior season to enter the NBA Draft. Winston can still make his money. He can still help his mom, Jessica Stovall. But it's no sure thing. The 6-foot-6 swingman, who went undrafted last Tuesday, now packs his bags for Memphis and California and hopes for the best. </div> Source
I'm pumped that out of 30 teams, the Grizzlies actually wound up with one of the 5-10 draft snubs. I honestly thought that Kennedy Winston was first round material, and while I didn't expect him to go in the first round, I didn't expect him to slip past the early second round. I'm happy we signed him, but you also have to look at the fact that we don't have a need for him. We have more Shooting Guards and Small Forwards than we know what to do with. However, with the new NBDL, I'll be very happy having Winston as insurance in the minors incase of injury or trade.
I think Winston is a good player, but how does the New NBDL thing work like? Is it like minors in Baseball? I still think Winston should have went with a team that was like rebuilding like Charlotte, Atlanta or New Orleans, maybe even Utah.

They can send and call players up and down as their performances change. At least, that's how I think it goes. I may be wrong. As for Winston, I was saying the same thing on AIM today. I think that he would be a better fit on a team like Charlotte that could give him 10-20 minutes per game. On Memphis, he'll be lucky to be the next Andre Emmett (a.k.a. the guy struggling to play 5 games). One thing to keep in mind though is that the Summer League team that these kids play on is not always the team they sign with for the regular season. For all we know, Winston could have a big Summer League performance for Memphis and then sign with the Hawks.

I don't really understand this still.
