The Hornets were so very fortunate. The best thing about Chris Paul is that he does not care about articles like the one linked below in the Salt Lake Tribune similar to a number of NBA beat writers' articles in the past month. Every GM now realizes that Paul would (or would have) fit into their team very nicely, though some simply have enough great players and a pretty good PG (like the Spurs). The Jazz are good and one of the harder working teams and got a pretty good guard in the draft and will be fine; but I continue to be thrilled for Chris Paul and what he has done for his teammates (what a difference the draft made for David West,) the fans in Louisiana and Oklahoma, and even for the NBA. It appears to have been, dare I say, destiny? Personally, I thought Utah took Williams because he was a bit less colorful I and never bought into the "shoot first" or "pass first" cliches. The best thing about Chris Paul is his warrior approach to the game. In the JBB Mock Draft we all felt Chris Paul was the sure thing, and has been playing with "IT" all his life. He's a born leader and plays with composure no matter what the circumstances. He sees the game very well, has great instincts, and can read the weaknesses in a defense. Some of these are natural abilities, but Chris Paul does his homework watching game film and preparing his teammates on how to attack their opponents. Getting back to the warrior approach. Remember earlier in the season when Chris Paul tore ligaments in his thumb? The doctors said the best-case scenario would be Paul missing a minimum of 3 weeks. Instead, Paul missed ONLY ONE GAME, and just learned to adapt with the wrap on his thumb. The losers on draft night were the Hawks by passing up on Chris Paul. I think he would have turned them right around, especially playing with Joe Johnson in the backcourt. Marvin Williams will be a stud, but he doesn't really bring anything to the Hawks they didn't already have. Chris Paul is an impact player and is probably a top 5 point guard in the league already.

Hopefully he gets the deserving recognition of an All-Star berth, but sadly i suspect many won't pick him, using the stupid rationale that 'there'll be plenty of time for Paul to be an all-star'.
