Just read the Washington Post. It says they are going to match the offer. Although I see how it gives us depth at the 4 and 5 spots, I think 36 mil is too much for a role player. [IMG]

Its a crazy market this summer...6 years and 5 year deals are given out to Alston, Cardinal, Thomas and Hassell after having 1 OK year or so

I would rather have Etan than Stackhouse. At worst we are going to lose anyway,,,,but we will go down in style with a man that is Mr. Hustle and a strong community leader. We have lost too many games with bums already.

Yea, it is alot of money. It's good to have that depth though. Hopefully this will keep them from putting Kwame at center. I think Etan will have a really good season next year, last year was the first time he really got to play alot & he improved alot.

I don't see this investment as a bad decision by the Wizards. In the East, big men are a rarity and Thomas proved himself as one of the better than average centers last season. For a strong center with potential to be an All-Star, Thomas deserves this contract.

I don't think Thomas is going to be a force at the Center posistion in the East. He's a great rebounder for his size, good defender, and has inside scoring skills. He's a hustle banger guy. I would love to have a guy like that on my team, but not for this much money.

A player with great rebounding skills, good defense, and inside scoring skills with hustle and the ability to bang doesn't translate into a force at the center position? You just contradicted yourself on that post bro. Basically, look at Shaq for example, he has all the qualities stated and he is a force at the center spot. If Thomas has the same skills, why shouldn't he be a force?

He's not a difference maker on the defensive end, neither on the offensive end. He does the basic things on what players should do. Thats not a force.

Shaq has more qualities than Thomas obviously. He has the best inside game in the NBA. He has great passing skills, great foot work, good rebounding skills, and good inside defense.

Thomas is not a force at the Center posistion. Thomas can not create his own shot like other centers. He's a center that gets his points off tips in, put backs, and a a FG here and there. On the defensive end he doesn't clean up the boards, but he can get them. He can block shots and defend well, but is definitly not a force at the Center Posistion.

Well, he might not be a force, but his skills and body should at least place him in the upper echelon of centers, especially in the East. If given the playing time, I could see Thomas having Dampier-like stats, which are definitely worth his contract.
