<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When Jarvis Hayes caught a pass from Antonio Daniels and made a 15-foot baseline jump shot over the outstretched arms of Milwaukee Bucks center Dan Gadzuric at the start of the second quarter Friday night, Hayes exhibited no obvious signs of relief.

Still, after making only 10 of his first 29 shots this season -- many of them open jumpers -- Hayes did appreciate seeing the ball go through the basket. After that field goal, Hayes looked more confident and went on to make 5 of 7 shots en route to a season-high 15 points in Washington's 116-111 win over the Bucks.

Hayes helped Washington's bench outscore Milwaukee's, 35-29, a major factor in helping the Wizards overcome a third quarter in which they scored 17 points.

"When Coach wants to go to the second unit, Antonio [Daniels] and I have to be ready to provide defense and some scoring off the bench," said Hayes, who is averaging 7.8 points and shooting 41.7 percent while averaging 19 minutes per game. "Antonio is great at it, and it felt good for me to find some rhythm tonight. I've been working at it, itching to get going, and hopefully this is a start. I'm just happy to be out there contributing."

Coach Eddie Jordan is hoping that the combination of Hayes and Daniels, who scored 13 points Friday night, can continue the momentum created by the starting unit when they get into a game. Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler are the league's highest scoring trio, but the Wizards know they need bench scoring to improve on last season's 42-40 record.</div>

It's great to see that the Wizards have a guy who can come off the bench and shoot for the Wizards and that's what Hayes did last night. If Jarvis keeps this production up by scoring and playing some defense, their bench becomes even better.
