McGuire, a forward who was selected with the 47th overall pick out of Fresno State in the June 28 draft, impressed the team with a strong all-around performance during the Las Vegas summer league.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound McGuire averaged 13.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 blocks as a junior at Fresno State last season and averaged 12 points and 6.2 rebounds in five summer league games for the Wizards last month.</div>

Nice, a three year deal is pretty good. It's also nice for McGuirre as most second round picks don't get that long a contract, but good for the Wizards that he's at least locked up for a while.

I thought they were going to wait to sign Blatche first though, since that's what I heard.

    It's official.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Washington Wizards announced the signing of second-round pick Dominic McGuire yesterday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed but McGuire, a 6-foot-8 forward from Fresno State, agreed to a three-year deal with the Wizards holding an option on the third year.

McGuire will make the league minimum of $427,163 this season and the contract is guaranteed. The signing of McGuire, who averaged 12.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in five games during the Las Vegas summer league, means the Wizards have 11 players under contract.

"We were very pleased with what we saw from Dominic in summer league," Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said. "He is extremely athletic, very competitive and is a good rebounder. Dominic is a solid overall defensive player who plays with great energy."</div>
