<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This Timberwolves season has featured a lot more minuses than pluses. Quite literally.

A glance at the Wolves' plus/minus ratings through February reveals a few interesting trends:

? Reserve Fred Hoiberg leads the club in overall plus/minus, which tracks the points scored by the Wolves while a given player is in the game vs. the points allowed. Hoiberg is the only player above plus-100, with a plus-117 rating.

? Prorated over 48 minutes, to equalize the subs with the starters, Hoiberg's plus-6.3 is nearly double any other Wolves player's rating. Forward Eddie Griffin, now on the injured list, is at plus-3.5 and Mark Madsen, who missed a bunch of the trouble games in January and February, is at plus-3.2 per 48 minutes played.

? Kevin Garnett, the king of this stat in recent years among the Wolves and across the league, is a modest plus-94. Last season, in winning the NBA's Most Valuable Player award, Garnett posted a plus-614.

? Last season, guard Sam Cassell was plus-536 and Latrell Sprewell was plus-407. This season, Cassell is plus-57 and Sprewell is plus-1.

? Guard Trenton Hassell, by this measure, has been the least helpful Wolves player with a minus-112 rating. Hassell is one of five Wolves who have negative ratings.

? In the Wolves' games in December, only two players failed to post positive ratings. In the team's February games, only two players finished with positive ratings.

? In 2003-04, in going 58-24, the Wolves scored 450 more points than their opponents. So far this season, at 28-29, they are a plus-38 as a team. </div> Source

Well it's good to see some great stats, but I worry about wins in the left column. That was my initial reaction when I read about it today in the Star-Tribune.
