If Howard ends up signing with the Celtics, he could be a decent addition for them off the bench and obviously gives them more depth.

Also, with Brand injured, the Clippers could end up in the lottery. Now, with Sam Cassell in the last year of his contract, what are the chances he will be bought out or cut by the Clippers later on in the season and then picked up by the Celtics?

    Cassell - Rondo - House
    R. Allen - T. Allen
    Pierce - Posey
    Garnett - Howard
    Perkins - Davis

Who else are some potential veterans that could be cut or bought out later on in the season, with Boston being a likely destination?

I'm kinda worried that the Celts pick up extra pieces along the way also. I'm one of those that think that, by the end of the year, they could be dangerous. Hope I'm wrong.

I believe Cassell said he wanted to go to Denver as his next stop.

He's done. Boston is so desperate, that they are picking up anyone who enters free agency. If I was Boston, I'd rather keep Leon Powe and Glen Davis.

I'm gonna keep this thread up...but for any new members, please post news like this where it belongs, such as somewhere like NBA General or the Timberwolves forum, or even the Celtics forum.

This is off-topic from the Nets...and while it isn't a rule that you have to put stuff in another forum, it's a great idea to go over and check out other forums, and stimulate discussion about this with other fans who are knowledgable on the subject.

Please, explore the site, check everything out...there's alot to be talked about, and alot of places to check out. There's plenty of other posters out there who would love to discuss this matter...so the next time you'd like to talk about something like this, check out another forum to see if they're talking about it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Peg,

I posted it in the Nets forum because I figured since Boston is in the same division as the Nets and is likely going to be a key rival in the regular season and possibly the playoffs, that it would make an interesting discussion in sizing up the competition. Just wanted to see if other Nets fans thought it would be significant if Boston could add more depth to their roster from released veterans.

Okay, that's cool. At SportsTwo, we like to see fans of different teams interact.

There's nothing wrong with posting this in the Nets forum, but it's just a better idea and, personally, more interesting to talk about this kind of thing with other members from other teams on SportsTwo.

Agreed. Ever since the Allen and Garnett trades, the Celtics needed a C and a PG. They've responded with House (SG), Posey (SF), and, if this is true, Howard (PF).

Okay then, do your thing. Sorry if I was bothering you. I don't mean to be an ass, just trying to fascilitate interaction between all basketball fans. Enjoy your stay at S2, and the Nets Forum, and keep posting.

Or you can always post it in the Nets "Off-topic" section. I'm sure that's cool too.

I don't see why the Celtics haven't rounded up Gary Payton yet since he has ties to them.

As for Sam Cassell, someone already said Denver and I can see that, plus with the Clippers cutting Diaz, they only have Knight and Cassell who are both elderly.

    Yo peg (and other mods).

We all know that Nets boards are "all-around" and OT. Everything that's of interest to Nets fans get's posted to the Nets forum. In fact, this is the only forum that interests me in S2 so far.

From what I understand, I'm supposed to promote discussion throughout S2, but I guess that's wrong. My apologies to you for causing you and anyone else any trouble, you guys do what you wanna do.

Peg, we all appreciate that you're trying to be a good mod--but as you know, we Nets fans are just going to do what we want to do. . . . we have such a large--and mostly close-knit--community that I think that most of us just prefer to talk about these things among ourselves.

Yea, I read this somewhere recently too. It was the George Karl connection from Milwaukee. Cassell said next year would be his last.
