    The Mavericks were as hot as any trendy music or artsy flick for the last six weeks, but they were knocked back to earth Wednesday night when Minnesota applied a sound 121-97 whipping to Dallas at Target Center.

    Shorthanded - Steve Nash missed his second consecutive game - and lacking energy, the Mavericks missed their first 10 shots, fell behind by double figures, never caught up and never put up resistance after halftime. The deficit reached as much as 28 points.
