The United States Capitol was placed on lockdown for a half-hour Thursday afternoon after a woman tried to ram a car into a White House security barrier, was chased by Secret Service and shot and killed by police, authorities said. The suspect had a 1-year-old child in the car who was not hurt, police said. One Secret Service officer was struck by the woman's car, and a Capitol Police officer was injured when he slammed into a barricade during the chase. All the shots fired came from law-enforcement and the woman did not have a gun, sources said. "She was using the car as a weapon," one source said.
