At last! The matchup many women’s lacrosse fans were hoping for, Maryland and Northwestern will meet in the women’s Division I title game on Sunday evening at Unitas Stadium in Towson. Congrats to both North Carolina and Syracuse for their fantastic runs through the season and the tournament.

Seemingly on a collision course to meet in the finals, Northwestern and Maryland bring a fresh matchup to the championship, having not met in the regular season. In fact, the Wildcats and the Terps haven’t played each other since 2007, a 12-7 win for Northwestern in the regular season.

The semifinals set a record for attendance, drawing 8,762 fans to the stadium, which sets a new record for a women’s lacrosse game in the United States.
