7 year 52 Million dollar deal, A little bit much but Hey It's better than complaining about Ted not spending enough! Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us! http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&dat...26/2006&id=5329
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (FLORIDA PACKER)</div><div class='quotemain'>Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us!</div> Law, maybe, was worth this kind of money. The Pack overpaid for one the most overrated CB's IMO.
Knowing Ted Thompson's frugal nature, the contract will favor the team. I'm guessing a lot of the money won't be guaranteed and the last three years of the contract will be voidable. Overrated or not, Woodson is a HUGE upgrade over Ahmad Caroll. I'm really glad they got this done. Now, if they'd just re-sign Grady Jackson, I'd be ecstatic. Don't think it will happen, though...

ehhh I hope the contract is setup where he could earn that much money if he plays well, gets this many INT's, etc... I'm glad to have him on the team. Anything is better than Ahmad Carroll but that's too much. I think Ahmad Plummer would've been a better player to get since he'd come cheaper. None the less it's good to get a signing.
Details on the contract - From ESPN: The contract is a seven-year deal worth $52 million, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reports. Woodson will make $10.5 million in the first year of the deal and $18 million over the first three years. Woodson will also receive a $3 million bonus if he is selected to the Pro Bowl in two of the first three years of the contract.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Way overpayment. I think Woodson is worth about 7 year 40 mill, so they were 12 million too high</div> It's 18 million over three years, that's 6 million a year. They'll cut him in year four if he refuses to re-do the deal. It's a good deal for the Pack if he stays healthy ... that's a big IF.
I dont particularly like this signing from a cost/production standpoint, but there are no numbers that consistently show how well a CB played, so I have nothing tangible to base it on....he is often injured and I dont think hes played well in several years....

That was two Pro Bowls ago ... that was a good signing. Is Woodson worth more? The market is higher now and Green Bay isn't a local black players are hoping to go to ... so the Pack had to pay more.
Green Bay reached an agreement with Pro Bowl cornerback Charles Woodson on one Wednesday, a seven-year, $52 million contract that will pay out $10.5 million in the first year and $18 million over the first three years. 10.5? in year one??? thats alot
You know Bret Favre had to know in advance about this signing & that's what prompted him to announce his return. LaVar was on NFL Network saying that Bret told him that if he signed with GB he would not retire.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LaVar was on NFL Network saying that Bret told him that if he signed with GB he would not retire.</div> Which only means that Favre had already decided to come back... Arrington didn't sign and Favre's still back, so 2+2 still = 4.

You don't think Favre had known the Packers were going to sign Woodson prior to announcing his return for 1 more year?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>What is the over/under on games he will miss to injury? 8?</div> Certainly a lot higher than the over/under for INTs.
