First of all, I wanted to say that I likely will not watch the movie. It's not that I feel the movie is coming out too soon or anything like that. It is that I have a hard time buying that Nicholas Cage, Oliver Stone, and especially Maggie Gyllenhaal had anything else in mind then their personal political beliefs and the money that would come from the film instead of doing a sincere and respectful effort to portray the tragedy that occured on September 11th, 2001. Oliver Stone is known for making awfully political movies that are normally critical of the US Goverment. Maggie Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, is the actress who suggested that Americans were somewhat responsible for what happened on September 11th, 2001 and now she is starring in a movie about it? And Nicholas Cage is the most overused (not to mention overrated) actor out there. These are the people that were handpicked to make this movie? It seems to be that these people had their own personal political agenda in mind when making the movie instead of focusing on the tragedy that did occur. Many Americans have pretty much forgotten about the horrors of that day. The media won't show the video of the attacks anymore. The media wont mention the 3,000 innocent civilians that died on that day. The media wont mention the thousands of Americans that were hospitalized because of injuries from 9/11/01. The media definately wont mention how many thousands of New Yorkers who were outside of the towers (and some outside of New York City entirely) that were in sheer panic trying to find out if their family members were alive or dead. That is what 9/11 is about, yet this movie is going to focus on 2 Police Officers who were saved, instead of the 3,000 people who died. All because they have to put a 'Hollywood Ending' on a movie about a Tragedy. There Is No Happy Ending. But mainly I am tying this because I wanted opinions from the people that actually did sit through and see the movie to find out if I am wrong. Did they actually try to do a sincere and respectful effort to the events of September 11th or was it another Hollywood Ego-Fest that in the end with their political beliefs clearly evident in the making of the film

First off, I want to say I am a somewhat believer of the conspiracy theories. That being said...I don't think I will see this movie this year as well... maybe in another 5 years down the road but it seems like a money making scheme to make these movies (United 93 as well) so early. But Maggie Gyllenhal has a supporting role if I'm not mistaken. Maria Bello is the real main actress. I dunno, most actors/actresses can stick to the script and leave their personal views behind. Hopefully, they're professional enough to do that. But they do have the right to express or act how they want. Movies are a form of art which are forms of expression. However, entertainment shows/magazines say that they tried to re-create what the families did and went through that day though. And ADrop, I kinda think you're missing the point of the movie. There was no happy ending on that actual day for most Americans but this movie is to bring closure and provide us with the thoughts that there is hope and goodness in the heart even when there is evil around us. It's not supposed to be a re-creation or whatever your imagining the "right" 9/11 movie should be. I think every American doesn't need to go through all that trauma again and instead see what that it wasn't all a tragedy. And I'm pretty sure they're not out there like Michael Moore on a political vendetta.

Which is why I feel so strongly about it, but still...I'd rather not watch a movie deeply rooted in an actor's political agenda's and/or greed and if the movie is just that Im not going to waste my time or money watching it. It wasnt all a tragedy? It's kinda hard to be glad that tens of people who were saved when thousands of others died under 40 stories of World Trade Center ruins. Yes, there is the nice story with people's goodness in the heart and what-not, but at the end of the day, 3 THOUSAND people died. That is a complete tragedy.

I think your a bit too cynical though. It's not saying that it wasn't a complete tragedy, it's just showing that there were measured amounts of good and hope that day.But even with war movies, MILLIONS of people died but they still focus on the good, not the evil and tragedy of death and war.

yo - i live a mile above WTC. i want to see this movie. obviously, it was a complete and utter tragedy. there is no denying that. but that doesnt stop the fact that there were still good stories. human nature is to try to see the positive light in terrible situations. obviously thousands died, and thousads more suffered the emotional and physical affliction of the aftermath. but that doesnt diminish the heroic efforts of the firefighters an policeman. i want to see it because it looks very well done, and im a sucker for these kind of movies. I saw Flight 93 on TV and enjoyed it.

I probably won't see it. I somewhat believe in the conspiracy theories like chang so this kind of stuff adds fuel to the fire if you know what I mean. We all experienced what happened that day whether it was actually being there, or watching it on TV. No need to see a movie about it IMO.
