Mavericks get: Corey Maggette 6-6 SF from Duke 18.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.8 apg in 31.1 minutes Jamal Crawford 6-5 SG from Michigan 19.6 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 4.4 apg in 35.6 minutes Change in Team Outlook: +16.7 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and +3.5 apg. Why Dallas does it: Mavs are painfully thin in regards to starters and bench. They get Crawford who is a big PG, can play pick and roll, and can play both PG/SG. They also get Maggette who can score like a mother. Warriors get: Jerry Stackhouse (expiring contract) 6-6 SG from North Carolina 3.8 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.1 apg in 14.8 minutes Josh Howard 6-7 SF from Wake Forest 17.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.6 apg in 31.6 minutes Change in Team Outlook: -16.7 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and -3.5 apg. Why Golden State does it: Pretty much for financial reasons. They get rid of long term Ks for an expiring 2010 and a two-year one. Josh Howard is happy because he gets a medical marijuana card in Cali.
Tough call, but I'd have to say no. We already have a shooter who plays PG/SG off the bench in Terry, so Jamal Crawford would be redundant. Also, as much as I hate how Josh Howard plays sometimes, Maggette is probably even more frustrating, and adding Crawford to the mix makes it even worse.
