Chad Ford seems to think so, and it's food for thought.

McGrady made it very clear he didn't want to rebuild, but had we drafted Okafor over Dwight, would McGrady have changed his mind? Think about it - Okafor and Nelson already have the experience, and could contribute immediately.

Personally I'm not going to judge Dwight yet. I have yet to see him play in a Magic uni, so it's unfair to judge a player who is still a question mark.

McGrady has been unhappy for a while now, so why put bother covering everything up with bandaids? Eventually those will have to come off, and you will still see what was there. Maybe it's just time to say goodbye and start fresh, with the hope of a better future.

I agree with you Ice. I'm not going to judge Dwight yet. But Okafor and Jameer do have the experience but I still don't think it would've been enough to change Tracy's mind. He's so set on winning right now it ain't funny.

Yeah, T-Mac would have left either way. But why does everyone keep saying, "Why didn't the Magic get Okafor?!"

Well in my opinion, Dwight Howard is MUCH better than Okafor. He's taller, healthier, has the perimeter game, can run faster, and a good scorer. He's much more flexible.

Okafor can block shots, but Howard will be able to soon, i'm sure...and Okafor needs help down low. He's too short and at the NBA Draft, the guys even said, "He needs help down below, he's too short and can't score much, and that he needs to improve his post game." [IMG]

    Good pick by Magic!

Mcgrady has said it a bunch of times that no one in the draft would help the team.He wanted the pick traded,so no I don't think he would of made a difference. He and howard would of been really special to see. but him and francis in the magic new run n gun offense will be great.

yea he has said it doesnt matter he wants to be traded i doubt that it would of changed his mind the fact that he is almost guarenteed a plaoy of spot with housten the fact that they are a great team and i doubt that nelson mcgrady and okafor would put them in the playoffs in the first 2 or 3 seasons

Tracy said that there is no one, not two players.(Jameer, Emeka)

He would have probably still leave if Okafor was drafted at #1 with the trade for Nelson, but he'd be a bit more reluctant...

Tmac has his mind set on leaving. He's gone, we could have gotten Okafor, Dwight and Jameer and I doubt he would stay.

That's all hindsight. No way the Magic expected Nelson to fall that far so they could nab him.

Anyways, stay or leave we goa budding superstar. I've already started collecting Howard memorbilia. Bought the new ESPN magz with Howard on the cover. [IMG]
