That's my thinking, too. It's a big risk, though, because I have a feeling Embiid is going to be a serious injury risk, and he just had a pretty down year. CJ is a great pairing with Simmons, though, so if they really wanted to break up the Embiid/Simmons pairing, this might be tempting. Of course they could say that THEY'RE taking a risk, given that Nurk is coming back from serious surgery.
Yes, absolutely. I like both Nurk and CJ but I see very little way of trading CJ straight up for a player that would be an upgrade for Portland (and still be acceptable for the other team). Using CJ as a chip to upgrade Nurkic into Embiid would be great. It would be adding risk (both Nurkic and Embiid are injury-prone but now we're tossing CJ into that bucket), but I think it would be adding quite a bit of reward if Embiid can play at least most of the season and playoffs. Nurkic is good, Embiid is great.
A Dame/Embiid pick and roll would be just about the best thing on the planet this side of a fellatio. And even then....
I saw an advertisement for a sale on Blazer gear. Dame and Nurk jerseys were reduced by about 20%, CJ’s was 50%.
If we miraculously landed the first pick in the draft then I can see us very possibly drafting Edwards and trade CJ away. We can trade CJ, Simons, and 2021 pick for Simmons. A Dame/Trent or Edwards/Simmons/Collins/Nurk would be a championship contending 2 way team
