JJ Hickson Wes Matthews Nolan Smith For Bargnani Lowry I think this is a win-win for each team at this point of the season. Aldridge / Batum / Bargnani / Lowry / Lillard Then during the summer we go after Bench improvements. http://shar.es/YFl57
Why the hell would Toronto trade Kyle Lowry? They just shipped out Calderon to free up more playing time for him.
Just trying to get some value out of Hickson. If I were GM, I'd keep our two hustle players (Matthews and Hickson) and try to sign a Center this summer.
In order to trade Bargnani for a rebounder (Hickson). If I were the Blazers I would consider T. Ross, Bargnani and Toronto's best available 2013 pick. We essentially then get Bargs for JJ and T. Ross and a pick for Wes and Nolan.
Colangelo has too much pride to give away Bargnani so easily. Afterall, he wanted to build the franchise around him.
I don't even know what adding Kyle Lowry and Punani do for this team? Lowry and Lillard both play the same position and I don't think you can play them side-by-side, Bargnani is softer than warm brie and is probably even worse defensively than Hickson. I'm all for trying to acquire assets, but this feels like a massive decline.
ESPN: One way the Toronto Raptors could be able to unload Andrea Bargnani this week is if they are willing to trade him in a salary dump type of deal, moving the former No. 1 overall pick for expiring contracts. How willing are the Raptors to do such a move? This is why! And if JJ Hickson can get us Bargnani - then we are dumb not to pursue this. (in my opinion, of course ) PS: Lowry off the bench over anything else we now call a point guard (off of our current bench) would be huge. And After getting a center this summer, having Bargs off the bench at either PF or C would provide us with huge depth.
The deal would really be to get Lowry (even with Lillard on-board) as in my opinion Bargnani is a net negative and his contract is bad.
Bargs will always be a tradable asset however. Especially as he nears the end of his contract. For the time being, he offers scoring - and last time I looked, our bench was averaging under 10 points per game (ouch!).
It's really not as bad as people think. Lowry is a solid pick up and could definitely be a starting SG for Portland. It's true we would be severly undersized at guard; but that doesn't mean that Oshley is finished wheeling and dealing. Bargs is definitely a capable scorer off the bench. But if this was the "end all" deal, then I would ask for Oshley's head. We wold definitely need a starting caliber defensive minded center after this deal.
Side note: If we got Bargs, Terrence Ross, draft pick for Hickson and Matthews I'd seriously question Toronto as a franchise.
