I just read on the Yahoo Sports, that the Jays have signed formar star Shannon Stewart to a minor league contract... He'll be battling against Johnson and Stairs for the starting spot in left field. Talk about depth!!! So here's the question... Is Shannon the #1 hitter, or would it still be Eckstein? I'm a big fan of bringing him back! I don't know why we gave him away in the first place! Is this in a way J.P. admitting to a mistake?

Weird signing. We're stacked with out fielders as it is.

    Wells
    Rios
    Johnson
    Lind
    Stairs
    Now Stewart

I don't know how he is going to play a single game.
Maybe he can replace an injured OF, pinch hit and maybe he can even DH a little bit. Hmm this could be a good signing after all.
I was a huge fan of Stewart back in the day. I still have his autograph. woot.

I think Shannon will win the starting Left Field job... He has a great bat and every time he came back to the Rogers Centre he hit bombs!! He loves hitting in this park! He's also pretty aggresive on D and remember, he's 34 not 40!

I don't know guys. I was a fan of Shannon back in the day, but he's aged pretty noticeably. And not only is he facing Reed Johnson and Matt Stairs (all signs point to a platoon), but Adam Lind is waiting for his shot as well. The signing didn't really make sense to me, but I'm guessing they gave him a shot as a favour or something.
