No word on who is starting for Lee. Wright still makes some sense but he did NOTHING last game. I'm seriously beginning to give up on the guy. Yeah hes still young but I don't see many signs that point to progress; skill-wise or mentally. His go-to baby hook shot has not improved since he came into the league and its not that good anyway. He has no other post skills to speak of. He hasn't shown much of a willingness to bang or crash the glass. If he had a motor like AR or Birdman or Camby IMO he could have an impact; those guys with similar frames and athleticism prove it. The passive-ness in itself is extremely frustrating but even outside of that its not like hes a skilled guy at all. Still a poor jump shooter, still has no post game, hes a finesse PF who isn't an above average scorer and, as the "finesse" label implies, a very bad rebounder and defender. Seriously, if he has any value left as a prospect he needs to be the next in the line of Mullin-drafted PFs to be packaged in exchange for legitimate difference makers. Ike let us get rid of Murphleavy and pick up Jacksington. AR got us Lee. I think I had the highest hopes for BWright when he was drafted and hes shown the least of the three. I'd make a move right now because when Lou and Udoh come back I think teams would demand those two instead of BW. Even if he has no value left as a prospect at least hes a 3 mil expiring piece. Realistically though hes sticking around at least until the all-star break. He has a fuggin golden opportunity sitting here with Lee out for at least a few games. IMO if he continues to disappoint with heavy minutes he won't even get any more chances once Lou/Udoh come back.
BWright is incredibly long, so I thought he would get more rebounds, blocks and steals. His blocks would be okay if he can get it to 1 a game. That said, he hasn't been given a lot of PT. He should get at least 24 mins like Yao, but 30 would be more like it. This is his big chance to show what he can do. I'm disappointed that he hasn't bulked up much from when he arrived. If Vlad and Gadz are getting the minutes, then it's probably time to cut bait.
It doesn't look good for the Warriors nor BWright. They're starting out slow and Gadz and Vlad have gotten in before BWright .
wow...we REALLY need david lee in there. it really goes to show how valuable he is. but what the hell is with smart sitting steph and biedrins for so damn long? i realize that they weren't having their best games, but come onnnnnnnn...so frustrating to watch...it's games like these that inspire my user name lol
Yep, very frustrating that Steph and Beans sat for so long even despite their poor play. Monta was dead tired by the time that unit got them back in the game and somehow Smart called Charlie fucking Bell to come in and play in the 4th Q (guy is fugging awful). Adrien had a nice game. Dunno how much longer Smart can hold this guy out of the rotation. Hes a good rebounder and a defensive presence, he brings energy, actually finishes fairly well too it seems. I'm hoping Smart is just playing this in a very Bruce Bochy-ean manner in which he gives his vets EVERY opportunity to win their spot before giving up on them. Yeah, its annoying while its happening and hurting the team but in the long run it does have benefits especially with regards to maintaining respect and command of the locker room. Not a sexy move but I'll continue to refrain too much from ripping Smart for it. Hes giving everyone an opportunity and I'm hoping its only because its early and he wants to give everyone a chance to earn their spot. Feels like the rotation should be shaking out a little bit more though- Gadz has clearly earned some burn, Vlad has clearly earned some splinters to the ass, Bell deserves to be abandoned on the side of the road in Milwaukee, Reggie and Carney IMO haven't carved out spots in the rotation but they're clear candidates for minutes because they aren't awful and can have good games. This game was tough though because if Curry, DWright, Beans, etc. have any kind of decent offensive night we would probably win. The team played like crap most of the game.
Yeah, I only saw the last quarter (the comeback and then the fail). They lost big at the FT line, too, Milwaukee got a lot more attempts and made a much higher percentage... GS was 6-10... Bucks were 17-21... Monta went 4-5 from three... 4 Bucks with 10 or more rebounds... 0 Warriors with 10 or more rebounds... Maggette went 1-6 in 15 minutes... Jeff Adrien revved his motor, 6 points, 8 boards and 2 blocks in 19 minutes... Wright went 2-14... Curry went 3-14... Bad Vlad is bad in a bad way... He had some brainless fouls in the 4th quarter to give the Bucks easy free throws... In the 4th quarter, GS seemed to play very scrappy defense... they held the Bucks to 34% for the game! They just couldn't get rebounds and gave up a bunch of second chance opportunities... I think they gave up something like 11 second chance points in the 4th quarter alone... Even Brandon Jennings got an offensive rebound inside and drew a foul going straight back up with it... Oh well, they were down by 18 and cut it to 3... I guess that's something... it seemed like Adrien might have emerged a bit this game... I like his game...
Vlad set a good screen at the top of the key for Monta and rolled to the basket, totally open for a pass. Monta lobs the pass to him except Vlad is looking at the basket, thinking Monta was going to shoot. One of the most boneheaded plays I have ever seen. Bench him now.
Its funny because he was actually hitting outside shots this game and yet he managed to nullify any chance of the fans giving him credit by upping his number of asinine mistakes. Start fuggin Adrien.
There was a long road trip with 5 games in 7 days. Vlad had to get minutes. Had Amundson been around, he'd be getting all the minutes. The Sky is not falling. I think we need to understand that this team is extremely shallow. Smart sees these guys every day. He'll give guys chances and if they play poorly, they'll get less minutes...UNLESS there are injuries. Gadz got more minutes in the Bucs games because he "earned" them...he's really, really awful, but there is nobody else. I really can't see this team winning more that 32-35 games without a bench upgrade
IMO Gadz has been our most consistent and probably best overall bench player. Hes kind of like a bigger Foyle as you can tell hes pretty goofy and uncoordinated but he at least gives some energy, bangs in the paint, can snatch some boards and blocks a few shots. Everyone else has been very up and down except Vlad. IMO Hes been pretty much all down. He'll hit an occasional 3 but he shoots them at a low % and is a negative in every other aspect. You're right though 5 games in 7 days on the road is brutal plus we've got no Lee and a terrible bench. I'd really like to see them pull out a W tonight at home without Lee. IMO the comeback in the Mil game wasn't all for naught. You saw the same kind of thing out of the SF Giants early in their season as well- they would scrape back into games and show some heart, grit, will to win, will to compete as a team, etc. Even if its still a loss IMO efforts like that can make a difference down the line. Everyone on this team knows we're playing to win and its all about the success of the team.
