    Interesting article about Yao Ming.

    “There were a lot of big things that were different when I came to the NBA, but I remember the little things like that the most. For example, everyone called me “Yao” — they thought it was my first name. In China, our surnames come first and our given names last. To my Chinese friends, I was Ming. Now I was just Yao. Once everyone started saying it that way, I never corrected them. I was too shy.”

    Initially he was listed as Hansen Yang. Everyone calls him Yang now. I haven’t seen anything yet on what he wants to be called.

    In english, it's Hansen Yang. Hansen is also (luckily) an english name, which is perfect, so I don't understand why he wouldn't just go with Hansen.

    First name is Hansen. Family name is Yang. In China, they say your Family name first, hence Yang Hansen, Yao Ming. Hansen is an unconventional Chinese first name.

    His friends call him Hansen. We generally call sports figures by their family names.

    Yeah, sometimes we might say their first names. But unless you're on a first name basis, or using a nickname, they are generally referred to by their "last" names.

    People never had a problem with Han Solo.....not sure why Han Sen is so difficult to handle.

    I couple of things. I still think every once in a while when Yang does something great they should have the audio clip of Ryan Gossling from The Big Short yelling, "His name is Yang!" just over the PA. I also think another thing they could do a lot more often when he scores is play a gong over the PA and show this symbol on all screens.

    Not at fan of Hansen or the mmmpop reference. The band, nor the song were tough and this guy has warrior written all over him.
