<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2534459Yankees have tentative deal for Abreu, LidleESPN.com news servicesThe Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees have a tentative deal to send Phillies right fiedler Bobby Abreu and pitcher Cory Lidle to New York ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reported Sunday.Stark reported the Yankees will send 18-year-old minor-league shrotstop C.J. Henry -- their No. 1 pick in 2005 -- and 27-year-old left-handed reliever Matt Smith. God the Phillies really piss me off... Abreu is not someone they should of gotten rid of, one of their best players.

Phillies are looking to rebuild I guess, dump some salaries and start fresh. 8 hrs from Abreu is disapointing especially playing half of the games in a HR hitters Park. So I guess Sheffield days are going to be numbered in a Yank uni.
Sheff's day aren't numbered. Now the Yankees are gonna have a killer line up once Matsui and Sheff get back. Here's how I see my Yankees having their lineup.1. Damon2. Jeter3. Abreu4. A-Rod5. Sheff6. Matsui7. Cano8. Posada9. Giambi or PhilipsThat right there is a nasty line up and they will be really deep with Melky Cabrea (SP?), Miguel Cairo, Giambi or Phillips whichever one didn't start, and Bernie. This trade makes the Yankees so much better.
And the Yankees are Yankees. Prospects for over-paid talent. In the back of everyone's mind, you knew this deal would go down eventually. Now, will Abreu waive his no-trade? If I were him I would cause they obviously don't want him.
he will, apparently, he has a house in NY, and loves NY.Abreu will move to RF. I want cabrera to stay in LF. Bernie at DH, giambi at 1st. i like Phillips, but he would get knocked out.once mats and sheff get back,i want it to be like this:1 - Damon CF2 - Jeter SS3 - Sheffield DH4 - Giambi 1B5 - ARod 3B6 - Matsui LF7 - Posada C8 - Abreu RF9 - Cano 2Bthe bottom 3 could be moved around. once the year is out, sheffield will be released, and hopefully will retire. Then either Cabrera will move to RF, or Matsui will move to RF with Cabrera taking over in left.

Not to mention that Sheffield is probably the better fielder then Abreu who seems to be scared of the outfield walls whenever he runs back on a play.

Him and Johnson are way up there and will retire after next season if not after this year.
johnson has told people that he wants to play one more year after this one, then will retire. i dontcare if sheff retires or goes to anotyher team. eitehr way. I like cabrera. i want him to play.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>You dont bat someone with a .427 On Base Percentage 8th, Abreu should be hitting Second or Third IMO to set up the RBI opportunities for Giambi and A-Rod. Either way its fine. He wont hit second (jeter cough cough jeter) and sheffield Fit perfectly in the #3 slot behind jeter. torre LOVES to do lefty-righty-lefty-righty etc in his lineups. damon LJeter RGiambi LSheff RAbreu LARod RMats LPosada SCano Lis a possibility, and its what is on espn.com
y not? hes our most consistent run producer this year...besides jeter and possibly damon, he has been our best hitter overall.
1. Johnny Damon - CF2. Derek Jeter - SS3. Alex Rodriguez - 3B4. Jason Giambi - 1B5. Gary Sheffield - DH6. Hideki Matsui - LF7. Bobby Abreu - RF8. Jorge Posada - C9. Robinson Cano - 2BHoly crap, it never ends.
When Sheff and Matsui get back I think they should have Abreu, Damon, and Matsui should be in the OF, move Giamib to everyday 1B where he can alternate with Philips, and have Sheff DH.
