On Ch 11 PIX. RHP - Michael Pineda (0-0 3.00 ERA) VS. LHP Wei-Yin Chen 0-0 6.23 ERA) Unpleasant note: Going into Sundays game, Carlos Beltran has been 7 for his last 60 (117) over his last 18 games dating back to last season. Tonight's lineup......... CF - Ellsbury LF - Gardner DH - Beltran 1B - Teixeira 3B - Rodriquez RF - Young C - Murphy SS - Gregorious 2B - Petit
Seriously, Beltran can only get better, right? To think he was the 4 hitter. The Yanks don't need all of these guys to be great at the same time, they just can't all go cold at the same time - like the first 5 games. If Tex cools for a week and McCann mashes, etc. they will be fine. Arod's been a stud and I love watching all of the jack..sses who "hate" him high five when he drives in 3 runs.
I agree Bern, as long as they're players who can pick up the slumping players we'll be okay but eventually we're going to need some production from those slumping players.
They're all over the stadium. I was surrounded by them at opening day. Guys talking about how much they hate Arod right next to us, waiting to boo him but not only not doing so but reluctantly cheering because he was one of the only players to put together good at bats. This board is full of guys who wanted him to fail and be gone before this season started. Tunes have changed with him being one of the only bright bats so far.
...my feelings about ARod have not wavered one bit, and they won't. I have no choice as far as him being on the team...but will I ever cheer for him.
Don't get me wrong Bern, I'm happy that he's contributing & helping the team but I still think he's a piece of shit.
Yeah, I'm rooting for baseball players on a baseball team, so what he's doing is fine by me. Character flaws, sure and you'd prefer your players are good guys, but who cares? I'd imagine all of these high moral guys have a hard time watching football.
Agree, which is why we need these guys to stay reasonably healthy. If so, this lineup compares (imo) close to most in the division from top to bottom and the bullpen appears to be solid. Not such a bad combination...and as far as the SP goes, I don't see too many other team's SPs being penciled in for 7-9 innings. Yanks are a pretty good horse in a field (A.L. East) not populated by Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed..... lol IMHO
Pineda on the bump should have no worries about SP. My feeling on Arod "producing" are that he's getting paid, shut up and do your job. As for the rest I'd like to see them all grab the bull by the ass and perform. As I posted earlier hitting like last night was what most had hoped for but did not happen. Was happy for McCann getting that bomb last night, respect his work behind the dish hope to see his hitting jump. Hopefully the Yankees will chuck Buck and the Orioles 2 of 3 this series.
Got the ESPN Games dilemma solved. Bought my new guitar amp around mid March. Spent the last four days pulling my old gear out of storage and helping the squeeze re arrange her house. Pulled up the Peavey Mixer and tested it today pass with flying colors. Today I married up the guitar amp with a powered 12" powered speaker. At game time I'll watch the Yankees bat, then when Baltimore bats time to turn down the tube and hit some licks. Could barely handle two & a half innings of Kruck & Schilling so tonight I'll tune them out.
I can't see myself not cheering for a Yankee getting a big hit or two unless he's a nasty SOB dogging it on the field or base paths, has a caustic miserable attitude on the bench and clubhouse, and causing problems with the MGR and personal incidents with teammates. He works hard, plays as hard as can be expected with bad wheels and always seems to have teammates having a laugh or two with him. Sure of course there are some players who may personally dislike him for his recent episodes..... but I think, one on one, when he's on YOUR team, he's a regular guy teammate.....and don't think for a moment his teammates and especially the younger, newer players DO NOT respect his baseball acumen and baseball experience as a ballplayer. THEY weren't the ones he had his "problems" with, these past couple/few years. He is old, kinda broken down and fragile.....and as long as he can last - I hope he does very well.
I was just thinking about that...why is Joe "resting" players this early in the season?...I realize they're facing a lefty tonight but why weaken yourself defensively just to get maybe a couple more RHers a shot against Chen?
