I'd rather have Aramis Ramirez, but he said he doesn't want to leave Milwaukee, I tell ya' they spike their brews up there, with some unknown substances, probably recycled out of the Sewage Systems....!

I can also "live with" a SS who lead all A.L. shortstops in HRs, RBI, XBH, TB, SLG%, 2nd in runs scored, 2nd in OPS, 4th in BA and 4th in SB (21/25).

Yeah, I think this Yankee offense can also live with it.

He does make a few errors but still has good range...and I guess we can also "live" with that. lol

The Mets are also interested which means if they really want him, they'll get him.
They just have too many good young SP arms as trade bait....absolutely loaded.

Well we have an abundance of catching to deal for.

We seriously need to address SS because as I've mentioned before I just can't shake this bad feeling that when all is said & done Drew is going to be our starting SS in 2015.

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion and I can't blame someone who may disagree but, here goes....

If the Yanks do get stuck with Drew, maybe, I think, with a full ST and a fresh start he can bounce back and give us .245-255 with a few HRs and play a good shortstop.
He's had three seasons with OPS in the .800s and was .777 his last season (2013) at Boston. There's a fair chance he can do some damage swinging at Yankee Stadium - if he's back on track.

However, I would prefer the Yanks find another SS preferably some speedy kid who looks good in ST. I don't know where or how, but the Yanks should begin their search for the "future" shortstop immediately and get him IN THERE!

The M's have two, depending on what you're looking for. Brad Miller is more of a "good enough pop at SS to overcome the average D" while Chris Taylor is a "great-fielding slap singles hitter". With Bloomquist (smh) as our utility player, we don't necessarily need a stud pure backup SS.

I really like Ramirez so I would be all over that. Would love Castro from the Cubs but guessing they would ask for a ton.

Fair enough. I know you guys have money to go after the TuLos of the world, but if that doesn't work out there aren't a ton of better options--just didn't know if the M's guys were on your radar.

FWIW, Fangraphs/Steamer Projections have them as two of the top 6 SSs in baseball. Neither one will get 600 PAs, of course, especially if both are on our team, but it's one of the few positions of strength the M's farm/recent graduates have. And they're both a heckuva lot better and cheaper than Stephen Drew.

Like I said, just tossing it out there. I get it if there are bigger fish on your horizon.

I remember clearly the one year 1969 Seattle Pilots. I went to High School with Jim Slaton, and have one of his many Pilots game worn Uniforms. His wife used to work for me 25+ years ago, she was a LA Raiders Cheerleader at one time.

1 year and out, defunct and bankrupt, moved on to replace Milwaukee's last team (Braves), with great success and fanfare in Wisconsin, the Harvey Wallbangers did arrive. Slaton I believe still holds the all time Wins Record for those BrewHahas....

a trip down memory lane. The best thing the M's did for their fans was building Safeco Field. The worst thing they did for their team, was build safeco field, while removing a true rare Homer Dome...!

Tho' I'm honestly not been impressed with the M's since 95-01; and prior in the mid 80s, with Alvin Davis, Phil Bradley, Mike Moore, Mark Langston, Harold Reynolds, Jim Presley, Edgar Martinez, fk A-Roid, K. Griffey JR., Danny Tartabull, Gorman Thomas, Dave Henderson, Jay Buhner, Jeff Nelson, Norm Charlton, Olerud, Randy Johnson, Bret Boone, and best of all besides Griffey jr. ie, the Legendary Ichiro Suzuki.

The M's in the 80s even prior were known for developing and drafting good young Pitchers, who always got traded, when Free Agency was available. Yet, the M's have always sucked hind tit when it comes to Post Season Play. I expect they will remain that way for the next 50 years. I just don't see the M's as capable of bringing out homegrown talent, that is competitive with the rest of the League, while they can't continue to make Blockbuster Deals like Cano's, lest they go bankrupt...!

For people like 2B or C or OF, I'd rather fill from the farm where we can deal with the growing pains, but SS, we'd need to go after someone who has "the chops" so to speak... We don't have anyone in the farm good enough to say we'll deal with the growing pains...

Exactly while replacing a Legend at SS, one of the Greatest Short Stops to play the game, let alone no doubt the greatest Yankee to play the position.....will take nothing less, than another Legend, Tulo, Simmons, (tho' Simmons is not available), yet something has been telling me since mid-year, when the Rockies made public Tulo could be had for the right trades and cash.....I still believe in that dream. Tulo still the #1 All Time Defensive Fldg. Pctg. SS's to play the game would fit right in.

Tho' it would be cool if a SS in the Yanx Farm System were able to step up to the plate/position and hopefully such a player, prospect, may just shine with RE2PECT, like #2......that would be real nice. Donnie BB, was such a surprise to the Yanx in the Minors and in the Bronx.....

25th Pick of the 19th round of 1979, overall the 493rd pick....! Don had a .332 B'Avg in 4 1/2 years of Minor Lg. Ball
