The New York Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox by a score of 6-5. Chien-Ming Wang started and got the loss.

There are a few factors that you can blame the loss on. You can say Swisher’s misplays, getting caught off of first base and dropping a fly ball in the outfield, cost the Yankees or the Yankees hitting terrible with men in scoring position played a big part. Then you can also say that Wang was terrible, again. Credit still has to go to Boston because they are a good team. They have our number lately.

Chien-Ming Wang had great fastball that was topping out at 96 mph. He had great velocity on his fastball but he had no command. He kept missing in the same spot. His pitches were moving side to side on the same plain and his sinker wasn’t sinking. He was missing with his fastball down a lot, below the zone too much. He then fell behind the batters because a team like the Red Sox are not going to offer at those pitches. Then when he got the ball up, the Red Sox crushed him.

Wang threw too many fastballs to start the game and didn’t mix in his pitches well. He hardly threw his slider or his change up.

Nick Swisher missed an easy play down the line that was turned into an easy double. That could of been the mis-play of the game. Wang then had to make tough pitches with a run in already. It seemed to set him back a little especially since he’s not sure of himself as a pitcher right now. The only good thing you can take away from Wang’s outing is that he threw the ball with great velocity and he’s getting his legs back underneath him.

Phil Hughes did a good job. He only made one mistake to Youkilis which was a two run homer. He had good mound presence, had a lot of confidence and threw a lot of strikes. He finished up very well.

The Yankees had men on base every inning but they couldn’t score runs. They scored three runs which were all solo home runs and they couldn’t get the base hit when they needed to. 2-for-15 with men in scoring position.

Player of the Game: J.D. Drew. He got on base a lot and scored runs.
