About negotiating contracts during the season. #1 find out NOW! what Cano is looking for so we know before its to late & we get nothing when he bails out. And #2 offer Kuroda another 15M to come back next season.

...I brought this up earlier in the season and I still don't understand "the rule". I know there were some talks around the time he hooked up with JZ and either the Yanx never make a legit offer or Cano and JZ think they can get more.

I think the thinking is they dont want to lock up a player and then he gets hurt. But they end up costing themselves years and millions time and time again by letting these guys hit free agency. That didnt used to concern them, but it seems to now. I dont get it. I just read Pedrioa was willing to take more years and less money so that his contract would not be a financial burden on the redsox as time goes on. When does that EVER happen for the yankees?

IMO its just bad business. I mean why wait until the end of the year to give another team a chance to steal him & where the Yankees end up with NOTHING in return.

" Robinson we can offer you 6 years (no more) and upwards of 125M dollars. Does that work for you? Yes or no?" If he says Yes then GREAT!. If he says no, trade his ass & get as much as you can for him. Its really very simple.

    Hey guys!

Good to see some familiar faces. Hope everyone's summer is going great!

The 2013 Yankee pitching staff is good enough to be legit contender come playoff time. Strong bullpen anchoring a decent staff. Hate to pick on the fat man - but he needs to get his sh!t together soon. Kuroda is a legit #1, Pettitte I believe will pitch better the remainder of the season. No more excuses for CC - he needs to step up and fix whatever is making him so ineffective.

Jeter will help, Granderson will help, perhaps giving a kid like Sanchez a look now and see what he can do, and swinging a couple of deals at the deadline for another hitter or two. If you are talking to the Cubs about Soriano, might as well make an offer for Shierholtz. Kick the tires on Headley, and see if he could be had to play 3B. No reason to hoard prospects at the lower levels anymore.

Hey vette good to see you. And yeah thats a great idea about Sherholtz (forgive the spelling) Have the Cubs throw him in the mix to sweetin the pot. Yeah, I like that a lot.

Vette322 Welcome to this board, agree with stuff in your post and Rick 2583 as well. CC or BUFF as I refer to him will have to sack up against Tampa tomorrow to show us he's going to get it right. Saw some nice stuff in todays game hope it continues.

Yeah the kids seem to be waking up lately & I love that. Now I want to see them DFA Hafner & bring up Sanchez. With Cervelli likely to be suspended we need to see if this kid can handle major league pitching.

...I think that the proper time to lock up Cano was about 2 years ago when it was obvious what kind of talent he really was...now the Yanx will have to bid along with other teams. And like I said earlier, considering the zoo that the face of this franchise has become, if I were Cano, I don't know that I'd want to come back next year. He can go to LA or somewhere else where he's not the focal point of the team and does not have to deal with the daily drama that this franchise churns out on a daily basis.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda, I agree but the Yankees need to find out NOW what Cano wants. The end of the season will be to late & by then we'll end up with shit if we lose him.

59 and you are right, We knew 2 years ago about Cano's value to us, but remember he was a Boras client and even if the Yankee rule was there at that time, being a Boras client made the issue mute.

Hey Vette... Sanchez is flat out too young to be brought up just now... but I agree... lets see what we got with the kids

I was going to say the same thing... I feel that waiting is just hurting them as it has time and time again (as you pointed out)... this may go back to the fact that it appears the team is looking like they are going to sell...

Sanchez is flat out too young to be brought up just now

Yea, Sanchez may be young and Murphy may not be ready either, but here's my thinking - this year has been unconventional to the tilt so far this year, and perhaps some unconventional type moves need to happen. The fact that this team is still hanging right on the WC bubble, and has shown that it can pitch with anyone in the AL - you can't chuck it now, and have to find away to get better offensively. The answers could very well be in the minors. I am not one who believes that if you bring a kid up early, it stifles his growth or ruins him if he is not successful. Unconventional moves in an unconventional year.

There weren't many people who thought bringing up Joba in 2007 was the best move to lock down the pen, but it sure did happen and that team went on a tear and made the playoffs.

And yea - I'll be a little selfish. This is Mo's last year, and he has been incredible (outpitching his career numbers at 43 - are you kidding me?). He deserves to go out on a playoff team, and this team pitches well enough to be one.

I completely agree... he needs to go out on a playoff run... I just don't see it happening....

...good point about Boras...I doubt he would have renegotiated back then.

It's going good - and you? Been on the road the last month, and have been meaning to jump on this board, and finally got the time to do it. I've been posting on reddit as well, which is a good board also. This one seems to have little bit more traffic right now, but for me - both boards seem light years ahead of what we had to put up with on ESPN since that last board change 2 years back.

I think ESPN's NFL board had only ten real people posting on it with about ten different names each.
