This is good for 2 reasons: 1) Girardi did an excellent job with a horseshit roster this season, 2) He's a smart guy - he must have heard the right answers from management to his questions as to how they plan to become competitive. Throw in Hal's 'soft' $189M stance, and the threat of the rival Red Sox going from last in the AL East to likely WS champs - no time for fucking around with Cashman retread specials in 2014.
Just saw some detail, 4 years, at 16 million plus bonuses. Per Texeria on the rundown very important for team stability. Glad to see it done, now they have to get rid of the bums and replace them with quality ball players.
...He didn't dick around and wait for other offers...I think this shows that Joe's heart really is in the Yankees job and not in Chicago or anywhere else.
I still think the Yankees will stay below the 189 million number. Even though Hal keeps saying over and over again that the number is soft I think they have no intention of going over it for next season no matter what happens with Arod.
Yeah this makes me about as happy as slipping on dog shit & landing face first in horse shit. But what the hell, i'll just enjoy the pleasure of reading all the negative shit you guys will post next season every time he makes one of his usual bone head moves. On a positive note....there really wasn't much of an alternative.
The one thing I take from this signing is that he didn't leave the organization hanging when meetings are scheduled over the next couple of weeks. Now if Hal is true to his words that Championship Quality teams are more important than 189 million cap.
I think this was the best option out there... there really was no one else out there... and he did the best considering the crap he had... I was surprised he stayed with Chicago calling...
There are some sick puppies out there, the 72 % of voters who elected to take Cashman over trashing him. The article hit the nail on the head though, Texeria mad some nice comments on Joe G on MLB last night.
^^^ lol...rick has voiced his displeasure with Girardi several times, and after I posted the link to that story praising the resigning of Girardi, rick was poking me with a sharp stick and jokingly saying that I was rubbing "salt" in his wound...and that I was "mean" by doing so.
