RHP - Michael Pineda, (9-6, 3.77 ERA) VS. RHP - Phil Hughes, (8-6, 4.15 ERA) Line ups to follow..... CF - Ellsbury LF - Gardner DH - Rodriquez 1B - Teixeira C - McCann RF - Beltran 3B - Headley SS - Gregorius 2B - Drew
Lets see the Yankees give Phil a thrill via an early exit. Can't take the Twins lightly they have surprised up to this point in time.
Analysts, for what they are worth, predicted the Twinkies a last place finish. They are surprising everybody with Molitor at the helm. Good test for these Yankees away from home..... and the beginning of a 10 game road trip. Success will depend upon the starting pitching.
Humorous side note: Rangers play a series in LA wonder what kind of reception old Junkie Josh will get. Funny that they started playing better ball after their EX GM and Josh got shipped out. Tonight: go Yankees eat the Twinkies alive.
Big 10 game road trip....I'm a bit nervous and apprehensive. This trips brings us right into the first week of August and this is the time when teams begin to take shape for the September push. Minnesota -good team with one of the top three home records in the league.... Texas - beat the crap out of us last time the Yanks played them. Then Chisox- and if we face Sale, there's a good chance the Yanks MUST take the other two games to win that series. As always, we need the good solid SP. Have to stay on course.....a split of the 10 games shouldn't be very harmful, but I believe this Yankee team should be able to go at least 6-4 - but MOST important, the Yanks MUST avoid a very bad trip which would bring them right back to the rest of the pack and we're back to square one. This is also the last road trip outside of the Eastern Time Zone for the Yanks the rest of the way.
Nah, not tonight....I know it's easy to say it when the team is losing 5-0 and I'm usually optimistic, but sometimes the old instinct kicks in and you could just tell from the beginning with the Twins getting a couple of early runs and the Yanks hitting a few hard balls right at fielders it was one of those nights. Just don't turn this trip into a nightmare (3-7, 2-8…...ect). We'll get 'em tomorrow. Next time Yanks see Hughes they'll probably beat the sh!t out of him and his BP fastball.
Hughes was a piece of shit when he pitched for the Yankees. If he wins tonight his record would be 2-1. Pretty shameful that the Yankees can't kick his ass, and we all know who pitches tomorrow.
I hear ya....he is what he is..a "good" not special SP - at this point. He is in the process of pitching in a season where he hasn't thrown more than 76.1 innings in the three previous years. He's still learning and maturing....has to figure out how to get along in games when his best pitch and/or command isn't there. I like Pineda, he has shown poise and balls this season....and to be fair, no excuses, just fair ....this Minnesota team isn't a cakewalk at Home. For "Home" teams this year, Twins are 4th in league in scoring, they hit 29 points higher with an OPS 68 points higher at home than on the road and have one of the top three home records in the league. Looks like the Twinkies are kinda back in business. Lol Let's just try and hold our own on this road trip and not spring a big leak.
Only his ex-team can make him look like a Cy Young candidate. Yankeefan5545, you said it first. Shame on his ex-teammates and J Girardi for letting this joker get the better of them.
Nice start by Crapuano, A friend f mine said even Scherzer lost today, but I don't care about Max, he doesn't pitch for the Yankees.
Splendid road start, 10 hits, 1 run, at least 9 LOB and you were beaten by a pitcher who stunk when pitching for your team. Jesus Christ. Note to Cashman: get that asshole Drew out of New York and send Crapuano with him.
