    RHP - Masahiro Tanaka (8-4, 3.84 ERA)

    VS.

    RHP - Marco Estrada (9-6, 3.40 ERA)

So after today the lead will be either 1 1/2 games or 3 1/2 games. The Yankees really need this one.

    Today's lineup......

    CF - Ellsbury
    LF - Gardner
    DH - Rodriquez
    1B - Teixeira
    C - McCann
    RF - Beltran
    3B - Headley
    SS - Gregorius
    2B - Drew

These guys need to wake up today, this game IMO is big.

...and the O's could also get to within 4.

...Yanx still have 11 games vs the Jays and 6 games vs the O's.

And the Jays and O's play each other as well. Nobody is winning anything on August 9th. Long way to go.

...I realize what date it is, and I was forecasting "doom and gloom" or anything of the sort...I was simply pointing out that the Yanx have several games with the 2 teams nearest to them in the standings.

...and when the Jays and O's play each other (7 more games) it doesn't really help the Yanx as much as one might think, because on the days when the Jays and O's play each other, obviously there's gonna be a winner and a loser...and so depending on whether the Yanx win or lose that same day they are guaranteed to either gain no ground on one of them or lose a game in the standings to one of them.

Unless the Jays and O's are tied in the standings it most certainly helps. Plus it knocks games off the schedule.

Its bad enough that they've eliminated there running game but now they've also eliminated the hitting game.

2 hits in six innings and being shutout again. Four runs in the last 42 innings. It's quite disgusting.
