...yup, Pineda has been very good. I still think the he and Tanaka will have to maintain expectations in order for this team to make the PS, much less advance very far in the PS. Of course, if CC would at least pitch like a #3, that would be huge too.

The BlueJays, Redsox, Rays and Orioles are also going to need a couple of OBVIOUS "things" fall into place for THEM to make the playoffs....Division Title!

Winning the division could be the easiest way to the playoffs for the Yanks.
This isn't too obtuse, is it?

    GO YANKS!

Pineda has stepped up huge and set a good example for his team! Hope Tank can get back in there, pretty good one two.

...again, you just can't help regurgitating old BS or bringing up irrelevant BS from other threads, can you?

...why do you constantly try to use virtually every thread as your own personal soap box for your own personal agenda?...it's way past being old hat.

...yeah, Tanaka has the ability to be very dominant, but because of his arm issues, he's the one starter I can excuse for not going past 6-7 innings.

Still a long way to go and it will be an interesting ride. I'm happy the Yankees are in first bit it's only May 9th. Tampa is being their annoying resilient self. Toronto can certainly hit and Baltimore has some good hitters as well. Boston is where they belong with that horrid starting pitchers. If the Yankee rotation holds up and a guy like Nova can come back and give innings they should be in good shape.

The funny thing is, I've been on 3 continents this spring, and I keep seeing the same points being posted again and again.

The Yanks have played well relative to their opponents. However those other teams have also been underperforming. This isn't a +600 team without Tanaka and with a 5ERA CC. No amount of pompom, unicorns, rainbows or pixie dust will make it so. We arent 1/5th through the season, PS shouldn't even be a discussion. ARod isn't exactly lighting things up. His are journeyman numbers except that Tex Beltran Bradley and Drew suck too. I'll leave DiDi out of the conversation today. This team has major flaws, and a mgmt team unlikely to spend what it takes to fix. And worse, a GM that isn't capable of swinging a favorable trade to save his life.

Nothing wrong with being a fanboy, just don't try a keep picking fights with people being objective and then getting mad and throwing tantrums when people don't buy your selective and subjective views. We all like seeing the team win - stop ignoring this fact.

...yeah, I think things will gradually revert back to the norm and realistic numbers. I don't see the Yanx finishing with the best ERA in the league and the Sox with the worst ERA in the league. Along with the Sox staff being so bad the offense and defense has also taken a powder...this also will change.

Pitching should be fine, but should be much better had someone be adopted a more refined and cogent strategy.
The offense concerns me, we can't be carried by Ellsbury and Gardner, with part time Chris Young. Tex is Adam Dunn, and ARod is playing like your average 40 year old power hitter. Way too many holes in the line up. The old guys with old eyes aren't doing so well in day games.

I don't know how much longer the Yankees can or will carry the dead weight of guys like Beltran & Drew who bring absolutely nothing to the offense. Beltran is a seasoned pro who WAS a very good player but as hard as it might be I sense the time is very close of either reducing his role to an overpriced bench player or cutting him all together. Drew was a sign that Cashman never should have made & for him even more so than Beltran its time to give him his walking papers. Pirela / Rhysnyder covering 2nd can only be an improvement. As far as RF, give it to Young & make Judge your 4th outfielder. JMO.

...so far, everything has pretty much gone the Yanx way but I don't believe they can realistically sustain their recent play for the entire year...we have Gardner and Ellsbury who are absolutely on fire right now, the starters are over-achieving, and the BP has been lights out...not to mention that the injury bug has not hurt us so far. (10-5 since Tanaka last pitched)

    ___________________________

Playing "well" relative to your opponents is the very first thing a team should strive for...but playing better is the bottom line which is what the Yanks are currently doing division-wise..

And how many teams in THIS division did YOU expect to play ".600" ball?

    Think it over.

Maybe you should try space travel to get a better perspective on this Yankee team and their opponents. (A.L East). Lol

7 K's through 3 innings & one bad pitch. Lets hope the Yankees offense comes alive & bails him out.
