I'd say the pitching matchup favors the Padres this evening, not good for the visitors. Nova, Jesus Christ the first thing one thinks about is what inning he'll self sacrifice in.

If Novas equipment is as short as his starts I can understand why the girls who shower with him sing "It's a small world after all"

Joe The Genius - leadoff walk to Torreyes, 8th inn tie game, Ellsbury up.
SAC bunt? Of course not. This is a poorly constructed team which doesn't have the roster to SAC bunt.....or hit and run.
Evidently, the Yanks are the only team that doesn't have any players who can lay a bunt down or play hit-and-run. Amazing.
Why would JTG try and put the runner in scoring position with a SAC bunt and two shots for a go-ahead hit while also avoiding the double play?

Ellsbury doesn't bunt- then hits a ground ball DP.
There ya go. Two out, bases empty.

Everything this clown Girardi touches turns to mud.

This team is making quite a name for itself in Yankee annals.
They are now 2-7 vs Az, Col and S.D.
All three N.L. teams currently have worse records than the Yanks,
AND also had worse records before they faced the Yanks.

I really would like to listen in on conversations between Hal and Cashman.

...I went to bed right after the Yanx scored the first run of the game and going ahead 1-0....I felt fairly confident the Yanx could keep the Padres' weak hitting offense in check. I was surprised this morning to find they lost the game...and in the process, probably making Betances and Miller unavailable for today's game.

Every time I hear a toilet flush I think of the Yankees 2016 season! Per the River Avenue Blues game recap, when your top relievers are blowing games it's time to sell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's July. This is clearly a .500 team. Win a couple and lose a couple. No consistentcy or showing they can get on a run. Even against a weak San Diego team.

Hey! I'm visiting relatives ( Yankee fans one & all ) in Massachusettes of all places. Not getting
the Yankee games and so far I'm being spared their usual inept attempt to get over the hump.
Oh yes, we are all suffering in quiet. Red Sox people everywhere. At least their bumpkin team
    got.............what's the word?.......crushed.
Well, enjoying the holiday with relatives. For now, the Yankees are a passing
    memory. Enjoy everybody!

A couple of good baseball jokes yesterday, one was the Red Sox getting obliterated by the Angels. The Boston have good position players but if Dombrowski doesn't acquire a pitcher or two I'd view a 3rd place finish behind Toronto and Crack Town. Another huge chuckle I got was the Mets kicking the shit out of the Cubs for a 3rd straight game. I was stationed at Fort Devens Mass on two occasions and remember that around the Springfield area and south through Connecticut the Yankee Fans outnumbered Red Sox Fans. Tonight I plan on watching the game at Fort Bragg North Carolina between Miami and Atlanta. As a vet I'm glad to see those two teams interacting with the troopers who take care of this nation.

...^^^yeah, I read about that game being played at Ft Bragg...pretty nice gesture by MLB...we really don't do enough for our vets and our military. I also saw a news item on TV about it and every player interviewed spoke about what an honor it is to be playing in today's game.

...fwiw, I expect Boston, Texas, Cubs, Giants, as well as a couple others to be buyers at the trade deadline...this could actually good news for the Yanx if Cashman, instead of taking it in the ass, can bend over someone else's GM for a change.

MLB teams should play at Fort Bragg every Fourth of July. Baseball should always commemorate
the people who have served this country to protect us. In the past it used to be double headers.
Now mlb should play it real where it counts!

Like to see them play at Fort Campbell (101st Airmobile) and Fort Hood Texas (1st Cavalry) as well. Play a Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day game.

I see where Baltimore isn't fattening up on S.D. and T.B. when they won 7/8 including 7 in a row vs those two teams a week or so ago.
Now have lost three straight to Seattle and we can all do the math if the Yanks had taken care of business with a couple of unimpressive wins vs a team (S.D.) with a worse record.
Unfortunately the Yanks are now losing to "everyone"...very nice.
Dropping these first two games to a shit team obviously sets this team up for a bad road trip, time for the other shoe to drop and have this group implode before the first half is over leaving no doubts.
