LHP - C.C. Sabathia (5-10, 4.82 ERA) VS. LHP - Rich Hill (2-0, 1.17 ERA) Hopefully CC can prevent the Yankees from being swept by the lowly Red Sox in there final regular season home game. NOTE: The Astros are 2.5 behind the Yankees for the final WC spot with 4 to play. CF - Gardner 2B - Refsnyder DH - Rodriquez RF - Beltran LF - Young C - Murphy 1B - Bird SS - Gregorius 3B - Ryan
What was once a very promising season when the Yankees had an 8 game lead on the Jays (July 28th) has since seen the Jays pick up 14 games. JULY 28TH = Yankees 57-42 JULY 28TH = Blue Jays 50-51 Since July 28th..... Yankees = 29-30 Blue Jays = 42-15
...Red Sox are making a bid to reach .500...pretty impressive considering where they were...just sayin'. ...they just need pitching...and I would not be surprised if they make a serious run at Price, among others this off season.
C. C. has to pitch the game of His life, for the Yanx to even begin to think momentum going forward. I'm not holding my breath, or I'd aspirate. Especially after the last 3 games, and this totally pathetic bosox series. Mora's viral rant, "Playoffs, playoffs? (his voice hitting a hi note crescendo")....! (As noted throughout the year oft posting Mora's classic moment; via You Tube video)
When you really step back and take a look at it. None of what has gone on should really surprise us. What was happening earlier in the year? Tex and Arod were pretty much carrying the offense. You could even throw McCann in there as well. Tex then went out for the season and Arod and McCann look like they have hit the wall. Arod will have to show whether last night was either a second wind or just a flash. The bullpen outside of Miller looks completely gassed on top of the fact that it's also filled with some dumpster dive level arms. The worn out pen is not a shock since all season the lack of the starters to go long put a strain on the pen from day one. Then you get to the starting pitching in which there's a glaring reality. Tanaka in his current state is not an ace. He's a #2 at best. I have no idea what the future holds for him but for now he becomes a downgrade from what was signed. Severino will hopefully become the number one franchise pitcher we all hope he can be but he needs time before that's thrown upon him. Then you can look at the lineup as a whole. Miserable season from Ellsbury who you have to hope can turn it around. Gardner has proven he can't be an everyday player unless you want to watch useless Augusts and Septembers from him. Tex can never stay healthy. Arod is now looking very much like his 40 years would indicate. Headley is a mistake contract for mediocrity. Beltran is the teams best hitter. As others have said I really have no idea how this club is a playoff team. It has more of the markings of needing a rebuild than anything else.
I know right. I mean every so often I do some up with a good thought. You want an even more annoying thought? Or maybe it's just reality. While the Red Sox seem to be getting their new lineup in order you better believe they're going to be in the market for some arms. You better believe that with the current roster problems the Yankees face the Red Sox are setup to compete in the east again.
If only the Yanx could give C.C. away, and every burdensome big dollar--old man contracts. Now watch, I will have to eat my words, but I'm still not holding my breath. Guggenheim's group, spent approx: $100,000.- MiL., on players who were not on their roster this year. Paid to play elsewhere, and some to go home, and collect their $$$; but "do not pass go." If one can do such, its not a bad idea, if that one has the big fkn bucks to do so. Tho' the Bums group IMO, are setting dangerous precedents, that may screw MLB up so bad, we will think its Lacrosse or Crickett.....
If CC Sabathia gets in there and pitches a good game and the Yankees win I may have to equate that with Lazarus being raised from the dead. Not likely though.
It could happen Cage but I think the'll back in. It would be nice for the fans sticking with them all season if they could do it tonight in there final regular season home game.
That is a feeble looking lineup, but then again no matter how the lineup is arranged it's been feeble. I first began to have serious doubts about this team when Cleveland kicked their ass 3/4 in the stadium. I think Tex put a lid on my hopes with his lame "bump in the road" comment when the Blue Jays swept the Yankees in that 3 game series. This team had distinct home field schedule in its favor and still failed.
This season should be titled That Bump In The Road............ For me, Tex's(Bump's) comment became the excuse for this team's shortcomings. That bump has become a season long crutch on how this team under performed. His comment just lacks what Yankee leadership should be. It left me angry that this team is accepting mediocrity as success.
