Everyone remember the game played in the Bronx after Munson's Funeral? More Importantly one needs to only watch the first 7 minutes, with a clip of an Interview with Thurman, reflections by Drysdale, and Palmer, and of course Cossell. The team rallied behind Munson's loss. Tho' this Team, never played with Yogi, and Yogi was not a part of this team. It s/b a Yankee rally war cry of a game, played for Yogi, but........ What a difference b/t the Team of the late 70s, vs this Team. The 79 Team knew how to rally behind any cause, .....especially in this game, the day of Munson's funeral I had the game on a VHS tape; pitiful quality tho'. Here's a link to that game, when Bobby Murcer drove in all 5 runs, (also had a 3 run HR).
To this point in time the only rally the 2015 team is aware of is the convenience store chain. Really pissed me off when they put that 8 on the unis then got their asses kicked in Toronto. That 76-79 Yankee Team especially the '78 had some gutsy players. As pointed out Thurman was the best at what he did, fuck Bench and Sparky Anderson, Those teams kicked Bostons ass at both baseball and brawls. If Billy Martin were managing the Yankees today "Big Sloppi" wuld have dents all over his body. That being said lets hope todays group will go out and kick some ass tonight. Mc Cann is a Munson admirer, maybe he'll jump start this team.
Another splendid outing in progress. 2 Innings, 12 batters, 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 reach on error, 5 men stranded, 1 fucking run.
