RHP - Adam Warren, (2-3 4.26 ERA) VS. LHP - Jason Vargas, (3-1 5.26 ERA) Lets hope theirs not a let down after yesterdays run explosion. Lineups to follow...................
Tonight's lineup................ LF - Gardner CF - Young DH - Rodriquez 1B - Teixeira 3B - Headley RF - Beltran 2B - Drew SS - Gregorius C - Murphy Batters 6 through 9 are hitting a combined 212
One of the more important starts for a Yankee SP and the Yanks as we approach the end of the first 1/3 of the season. Let's see if Warren can put 3 straight good starts together....and we can then begin to think about him turning a corner and showing legitimate signs of becoming at least a "solid" starter. Let's get Tanaka hopefully back on track. Would be so important if Warren can become a mainstay in the rotation. A feather in the Yanks' cap having a drafted, produced "good" young SP in their rotation. I know, we all know all, he's got a long way to go...but we could be seeing the deveopment of a solid homegrown SP right before our eyes. Winning is the the name of the game...but if Warren goes on to pitch another "good" game tonight...I can live with it if he loses a low scoring game.....and winning it would be ideal. And.....one of our first round draft picks has finally arrived six years after. Slade Heathcott...still only 24 years old, a slash and dash athletic speedy player who has been held back by injuries and off field issues. He jumped back into the mix with an excellent ST and did well in AAA and got the call with Ellsbury down. Funny how losing 9 out of ten can somehow open a door and shed new light and fresh air. That's why we love baseball. Long marathon drama with twists and turns. GO YANKS.....1st place is still within a sniff away. Lol
Tom I agree on the long ball issue, I would love to see a few clutch singles & doubles with some consistency.
I'm not thrilled with Young in the 2 hole. You don't give a guy who coming in has been 2 for his last 29 more at bats at the top of the lineup. especially after Headley has done so well in that spot the last 2 games. And P L E A S E enough with Drew already.
He's locating well, missing down when he misses. But this team will punish mistakes, so yeah he needs a better cushion.
That's why I make less definitive, absolute , final assessments and appraisals during ST, April and early May concerning players and trades than the average impulsive "fan". I thought you would have noticed this since THIS is what is usually behind some differring "bickering"-like exchanges/replies. May isn't over yet, what happens if CC goes out there in his next start and pitches well? More "perspective" required? Still early in the game......winning the game comes first and It's still early enough for this team to score 5-6 runs......perspective...indeed. Back to the GAME.
Ah 90 wins was pretty damn definitive. There's a huge gap between how you think you post and how its read by others. No need to beat a dead horse. Keep it real.
Gentleman Joe Girardi should send Warren out to start the 7th inning and take it hated for batter from that point.
Okay, I'll go one more with you on this one and also try to keep it real... I picked the Yanks to win "approx" 2-8 games more than many/most on this board did depending on the indivdual, and of course I'll stand by it....just for the heck of it, how many "wins" did we have you down for? But I'll surely let you know when I think it's time...if the time does come to pull the plug on a couple of struggling players.
