RHP - Adam Warren, (4-4 3.78 ERA) VS. RHP Justin Verlander, (0-0 3.60 ERA) Lineups to follow... LF - Gardner 3B - Headley DH - Rodriquez 1B - Teixeira RF - Beltran SS - Gregorius 2B - Drew C - Murphy CF - Williams
Sadly even if Warren throws a 2 hit shutout this will in all likelihood be his last start for a while.
I think the Tigers have lost a bit of bite, good luck to Warren this evening, the kid has earned a starters job.!
I keep hearing about all of these possible maneuvers with Warren; back to the bullpen, keep him in the rotation for Nova's first month back⦠it just makes me nauseous that they're playing with these ideas for a good starter while CC sits there and gives you consistently bad innings.
Yup, and if Eovaldi flops again in his next start, he should also be considered for the pen...would not be surprised if Cashman gets bent over again and trades away someone at the deadline...if so, hopefully, it won't be one of the youngsters.
Warren = 12 games, 69.0 IP, 61 hits, 29 ER, 1.25 WHIP, 4-4 record & a 3.78 ERA Eovaldi = 13 games, 70.1 IP, 97 hits, 40 ER, 1.65 WHIP, 5-2 record & a 5.12 ERA DAMN! the number that jumps out at me are HITS allowed in basically the same amount of IP.
You know, Eovaldi out of the bullpen would not be a terrible idea. Does he hit 100MPH when he only has 1 inning to pitch?
...bern, I don't think he's hit 100 mph but I believe he hit 97 a few times in his last start. ...problem is, LHers eat him alive...hitting over .400 with an OPS over 1.000
Last year Eovaldi led the NL in hits allowed with 223 in 200 innings. This year he's on pace to give up over 250 hits.
Well - if we can all agree, maybe, possibly, if we can all agree quite a few pitchers TODAY, this season, who aren't ace type SP are going to have a couple of VERY BAD starts.........and I know ALL THE GAMES COUNT.....but, however..... Take away TWO VERY BAD starts by CC (5/23 bs TEX, 4/25 vs NYM)...and he's averaging a bit over 6 innings per start with 4.26 ERA in 12GS. Want to call him a "#5" starter? Fine. Want to release him?....Fine....I realize 4.26 isn't good... ....just wanted to toss it out for consumption. Anxious to see the board jump into "action".... lol
...if you admit that "all games count", why take out the 2 bad starts ?...well, other than trying to paint a slightly better picture of a pitcher who sux. ...sorry, it doesn't work that way. It's called a "earned run average"...you can't pick and choose which starts to include. Spin it however you want but the fact remains that CC is supposed to be an ace but is barely a #5.
Okay, it doesn't work that way, as you said....I guess maybe, possibly, perhaps EVERY PITCHER isn't going to have a stinker or two....okay. Thank you.
CC's numbers are terrible anyway you look at it. If you want to try and find a positive it's that his ERA is in the 4.00s for June after being in the 5.00s for April and May. We shall see what his final June start brings.
but the fact remains that CC is supposed to be an ace but is barely a #5. ________________________ CC is supposed to be an ace? Why did the Yanks BEGIN the season with him being the designated "#3" behind Tanaka and Pineda? Excuse me...I must've missed this. Okay, thank you. Thank you very much...I'm learning.
Is this a feeling?....a 2 hit shutout and all likelihood he's in the bullpen? What do you base this on?
I hope Warren does well tonight. He's earned the starter's role..... others on this staff seem to get a free ride. Lack of accountability again reigns in Yankeeland.
Do you see who gets rewarded on this team? When was the last time a young pitcher gets rewarded over a vet in this organization? Feeling....yeah, right!
