The New York Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox by a score of 8-5. C.C. Sabathia started the game and got the win. Mariano Rivera got the save.

What a great game by Melky Cabrera. Thank god for Melky with a great catch in the first inning and thank god for Melky for that bomb. Melky was the man today especially with hitting for the cycle! Can you believe that? You can tell how much he wanted it as he rounded second base. You know he wasn’t not going to get the cycle. It was all his. He’s come a long way since training camp.

Melky Cabrera just might turn into the best player in the league in a couple of years.

Hairston Jr. showed some value in the first inning with a great first inning dive and throw to first.

That Posednik guy has been terrorizing us all series.

The White Sox came to play. That’s no joke. Thome didn’t have a good average against CC and he bombed him.

That made sense when Quentin tried to stretch a base hit into a double in the bottom of the third because Damon has weak arm.

That was a great fourth inning by the Yankees. They scored at will on Buehrle.

Great fourth inning for Sabathia. He seemed to have settled down. The thing is, why should he have to settle down when he’s supposed to be a great pitcher?

I don’t understand how Buehrle threw that no hitter. He doesn’t look like he’s a good pitcher. I hope CC pitches better than this against the Red Sox. He doesn’t look like an ace either.

Sabathia gave a gutsy effort. Not his best but it was gutsy. He’s not getting paid to be a gutsy pitcher. He gets paid to be dominant and we’re not seeing that from him.

I thought it was definitely over for the White Sox once Phil Hughes came in the game even though he walked Thome. Hughes still got two outs. It still amazes me how hard Phil Hughes can throw. The confidence Girardi showed in Hughes in the 8th inning for one more batter paid off because Hughes has been great all year but I would of left him in to face Getz. Mariano gave up a run that wasn’t his but no harm done.

The slider that Hughes struck out Konerko with didn’t look like a strike but it was. Molina was sitting on the outside of the plate but Hughes threw it on the inside so it looked like a ball. The ball was right over the plate however.

I want to say it again… Melky with the cycle! Wow! Could we be looking at the best non steroid player in the league in a year or two?

Posada had a terrible series ending with a strikeout with a man on third base with one out. I’m sure he’ll be happy the Yankees are leaving Chicago.

    Player of the Game
: Melky Cabrera. He hit for the cycle and might be becoming a star in front of our very eyes.

Bottom Line: The Yankees had a tough series and CC wasn’t great but they won and that’s all that matters especially since the Red Sox destroyed the Orioles 18-10. The Red Sox are scaring me right now. It’s going to be a war this week. The Yankees can’t look ahead and they must take care of Toronto first when they meet Tuesday.
