The New York Yankees won over the Minnesota Twins by a score of 6-4. Jonathan Albaladejo got the win. Mariano Rivera got the save. It looks like I’ve been missing out on some good Yankee baseball since going on vacation. The Yankees had great balance up and down their lineup today. Every one got a hit except Nick Swisher. Alfredo Aceves has been very good in the bull pen this year and he’s not a starter so you can’t really say anything negative especially since he was on a 65 pitch count limit. After Cody Ransom made an error that lead to a run, he made up for it by driving in a run. This you can say covers up everything that goes wrong in ball games. Still, I’m not sure Ransom should be on the Yankee roster. There is a reason why he’s been in the minor leagues for his whole career. There are other players the Yankees could have on the roster like Ramiro Pena. Ransom wasn’t great with his defense before his injury and hasn’t been that great since. It’s hard to believe that Joe Girardi said that Ransom is a better defensive third baseman than Alex Rodriguez. There was cause for concern when David Robertson walked two batters in for runs in the fourth inning. He pitches poorly with men on base, doesn’t throw strikes and didn’t throw strikes today. It was a curious decision by Joe Girardi to bring him in with the bases loaded. There were some major positives for the Yankees like balance up and down the order and the Yankee bull pen combined to allow two hits and no runs over the final 5 2/3 innings. That is what you call awesome. Phil Coke and Phil Hughes are strike throwing machines. The Yankees did walk one too many guys and made some errors and gave the Twins some runs but overall the bull pen settled down. Girardi doesn’t seemed too concerned with using a lot of guys in the bull pen and worrying about the who he’s going to use in the next game because he’s more concerned about winning in the present. The most amazing thing if you think about it is that the Yankees swept the Twins at their home. I’m glad I’m back to witness some great Yankee baseball. Player(s) of the Game: The Yankee bull pen. They shut the door.
