NEW YORK -- Sparked by a makeshift top of the order, the Yankees blitzed Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow en route to their seventh straight win, 7-3, on Friday.

With Derek Jeter getting a routine day off and Nick Swisher sidelined due to a stiff left knee, the Yankees had Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson together in their top two spots for the first time this season. Suffice it to say that the change worked, with the two combining for four runs and four RBIs to propel the Bronx Bombers' offense.

Facing Morrow for the fifth time this season and fourth time in his past 10 starts, the Yankees exploited the right-hander's lack of control. Morrow walked Gardner and Granderson leading off the first, and both came around to score on a Mark Teixeira double and a Robinson Cano groundout.

An inning later, Morrow hit Austin Kearns and walked Gardner a second time ahead of a two-out, two-run double down the right-field line by Granderson.

Gardner and Granderson were at it again in the sixth against reliever Brian Tallet. With the Yankees already leading, 5-3, Gardner tripled home Eduardo Nunez before scoring himself on another Granderson double to right.

It marked the third straight multi-hit game for Granderson, who now has 11 extra-base hits and 15 RBIs in his past 22 games.

The early offense provided a cushion for Ivan Nova, who allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings, finishing one out shy of qualifying for a victory. Nova didn't have quite the same stuff on the mound on Friday as he did in his last outing, in Chicago. He allowed six hits and didn't strike out a batter while walking two.

Boone Logan picked up his second win in relief, striking out Lyle Overbay with two runners on to close out the fifth.

Kerry Wood faced five batters in the seventh and eighth innings, retiring them all, and earned his second win since joining the Yankees. Wood hasn't been charged with a run since his second appearance with New York, back on Aug. 3.
