By Tim Britton / MLB.com NEW YORK -- The Yankees slugged a trio of home runs off Jeremy Bonderman en route to their second consecutive victory over the Tigers, 9-5, on Wednesday night. The Yankees rapped only six hits against Bonderman, but all six went for extra bases. Mark Teixeira opened the scoring for the Yankees in the first with his 27th homer of the year -- a two-run blast five rows deep into the second deck in right field. Robinson Cano followed with his own drive into the seats in right for a 3-0 lead. It marked the fifth time this season the Yanks have hit back-to-back homers. The Bombers crossed the plate three more times in the fourth, on a triple by Ramiro Pena, a double by Brett Gardner and a pair of errors on a Teixeira ground ball. After Miguel Cabrera booted Teixeira's grounder, second baseman Ramon Santiago threw the ball away, allowing Gardner to score from second on the play. Curtis Granderson added a solo shot in the fifth -- his second home run in as many nights. Bonderman wasn't the only pitcher who struggled to keep the ball in the yard. Yankees starter Dustin Moseley also surrendered three homers in his five innings, including a pair of solo shots to Miguel Cabrera. Don Kelly lined a two-run homer into the right-field seats in the fifth to cut the Yankees' advantage to 6-4. Moseley didn't give up too many hits that stayed in the yard. He finished having allowed four runs on five knocks in five innings to pick up his third win. Moseley has alternated wins and losses in his five starts since joining the rotation.
