Gil allows 9 base runners in 3.1 innings and was likely on some sort of pitch count but Boone pulls him in favor of LHed Headrick to face a LHed hitter who promptly smacks a 3 run HR. ...great move, Boone...6-1, bad guys.
After Volpe hustles out of the box and legs out a 2 out triple, Boone fails to pinch hit the RHed Goldschmidt who kills LHed pitching and instead leaves the LHed Wells in, who's been abysmal for over a month...Wells weakly pops ups, leaving Volpe stranded on 3B. Thanx again, Boone. For the umpteenth time, Cashman and Boone Bothe need to go....maybe bring back Jeter and Mattingly.
So Boone fails to pinch hit the RHed hitting Goldschmidt vs a LHed pitcher in the 7th with 2 out and Volpe on 3B...but instead uses him to pinch hit for the LHed Rice facing a RHed pitcher in the 8th, and Goldschmidt promptly strikes out. Brilliant, simply brilliant !....How in hell can he justify either one of these moves?
Yanx lose, 7-3. I don't see things getting much better, even when Judge returns. This poorly constructed Cashman roster is wasting Judges best years, which are slowly dwindling down to a precious remaining few.
